Series 2 loom mating with series 1 speedo
Series 2 loom mating with series 1 speedo
Ok here's my problem, I have a series 2 ej22 motor, g/boxd/r, loom, speedo & steering column to fit to my brumby. Ive tried many options of fitting the speedo cluster into the dash but it still looks like crap.
So how hard is it to change (ie rewire) the series 2 speedo loom to match a series 1 cluster as these seem to fit much easier & neater.
Im considering buying a complete series one and starting from scratch as i'm getting sick of chasing fiddly bits here & there from wreckers( they charge way to much), this way i know that i've got all i need.
Your thoughts are much appreciated

Sorry my bad. It a 97mod gen 2.
I would prefer to use the gen 1 cluster for the simple fact that it sits neatly into the dash and it has all that i want in it, without having to pull the entire dash out. Im also planning on useing the steering column out of the liberty so i could just plug it all together mount it and away you go.
Thanks again

Thanks suby wan
Ive actually got both speedo clusters and just comparing the plugs in the
back of them and yes the gen 2 is elec spdo ( the speedo sensor simply
unscrews from the gearbox and will accept a standard gen 1 cable drive) so not to worried about that,
its the other three plugs in the back of the cluster ie, one behind the fuel
and temp gauges on either side and one at the top in the middle which i
assume runs all the auxillaries like, indicators, hi/lo range light, and all that guff in the middle there.
This plug is very diffrent between gen 1 & gen 2, so is it possible to rewire this plug to match a gen 1 cluster out of a gen 2 harness ???.
Sorry for all the questions, electrics is black magic to me.
thanks again

Thanks suby wan.
I forgot to mention that the the gen 2 cluster has a seperate plug for the speedo its self ( blue plug directly behind the speedo's needle).
I'm hoping to to do away with the entire electric drive & replace it with a cable( and gen 1 cluster obviously). Does the elec speedo go straight from the gearbox to the cluster or does it run via the ecu ?
