This should get all Brumby readers in for a start.Thanks. It is the black plastic pollution thing that is about size of a nice ,juicy jam donut, connects somewhere near LHS of air filter box.
It is part of a plastic pipe section with air baffles ? in it.
Anyone able to describe where both ends of the assembly fits in ?
There is an alloy valve thingy in the equation also, bolts to oil filler neck...just a little lost as to what goes where.
It is all part of the EGR alternative system you have when you no longer have that cast iron EGR valve unit with vacuum diafragem on it.
Looks like it and all its little bits add fresh air to exhaust off the LHS exhaust port, feeds through various chambers and finally direct to the piped plate bolted to EGR spot on inlet manifold.
Lost everyone ?
Need details of under Brumby bonnet

Ever resourceful Jules on the job again! Thanks. I found my ID tag so joined the LHS air filter casing 16mm ? pipelet to the top end, so got that right
Found a waps nest in the alloy component so need to clean it out and up, before next bit of puzzle goes in.
Looks like I will have to provide pics of finished system when done for future reference.
Realising just where this alloy reed valve housing with NOK markings on it - same makers of oil seals ? - where it hides, won't see much of my alloy polishing skills when it finally goes in
This is not EGR either , harking back to cars of the 80's with their noisy reed valve doo dads and plumbing to each cylinder, air pumps and the like...a blow on this reed valve housing shows it is not exhaust reburning at all, but must suck filtered air from air filter housing pipe into the black plastic jam donut shaped thing, through the reed valve and into exhaust port adaptor. There is just one weird thing up in top right corner of engine bay that resembles a sand timer, has vacuum controls and another airway pipe to somewhere - the black jam donut I think ?Then, there is the fitting where EGR normally is , with a rubber hose on it, dunno if air enters inlet manifold or leaves it through this adaptor.
Paul will likely be able to explain I bet !
Meanwhile I need to fit the adaptors to the exhaust ports , so cross fingers the four threads in head are healthy !
Also think that these systems use a different oil fill tube with another bracket on them ???
soon see ....
