Lift kit/strut/spring install day
Lift kit/strut/spring install day
Hi all,
After the last trip I have pushed myself into getting a 3inch liftkit, new kings, and all new kyb's!, as a typical beginner i know f/a and need help with the removal of all the old stuff and the install of the new stuff!
So far i've had Dave(subarino) and AndrewT offer to help, but we need more help! Anyone who wants to come around will be bribed with beer and sausages!
im not in a rush, but sometime before the next trip would be cool!
thanks heaps

We'll make a step by step manual in true Gregories' style.
Step1 - Unpack lift kit
Step2 - Install lift kit to vehicle
Uninstallation is the reversal of the above procedure.

You forgot the bit where you unplug the stereo and loosen the radiator cap.

Lift kits are quite easy to install provided you've got plenty of time and some basic hand tools. You will need axle stands and a good jack too. All good lift kits come with instruction's when you buy them new.

Not for me, both my subies are lifted and already got suspension upgrades. I was thinking that this wrenching day might be a great opportunity to make a top-notch Noddy's guide to doing lifts and suspensions. It'd make a great reference tool for the next newbie who comes along and wants to lift his pride and joy.SuBaRiNo wrote:Jack... most places have them...got the kyb struts for $140ea, and the rear shockies for $110 pair, the king springs where $140 a pair. I did heaps of shopping around and these where the cheapest at Auto-one in Midland.
Today i also installed the rear shocks and springs...jacks her up a fair bit, at least an inch, having second thoughts about the 3inch liftkit!

Mate... with some bigger tyres u will love the 3 inch lift... Like i was telling u before... a lot of people i know (including myself) started with a 2 inch lift and felt like they needed to go up to a 3 a couple of months later.
Your just saving your self a lot of money and work going straight to a 3 inch.

After a few days of driving the new rear shockies will settle down and the car will ride a little lower.

nah this was strait out quoted price, all the other places where $175ea for the struts, and like $110 for each shockie...springs where about the same everywhere.
i saved about $130 from my most expensive quote!...they might give a good discount if your forking out heaps, but this was so cheap compared to the others i didnt argue!
i have already got the liftkit, so i guess it should go in, if im unhappy i'll just take it out again! should be sweet though
