i beleive hatchie got us out of a pickle full stop :P

i was ready for home when we got to that gate hey. thanks for towing us out dave and lapsed, i was glad in the end that we made our own escape rather than snapping tha lock.

Yeah that was a very weird problem mattims... i would definately put a post up asking what others think it could be. Last time i sore a subi do that it packed it in and seized.

I agree was defintely up there with the top trips. Best this year hands down.

Yeah turned out to be an adventurours day... at one point i started thinking we may be stuck there overnight.

to add curiosity to other viewers my fav parts of the trip were:

-me getting everywhere with no dramas
-mattims dissapearing in a puff of smoke
-lawn digs
-nuts in the mud
-not knowing where the hell we were
-our spectacular exit
also the shot of me stuck in mud didnt work/come thru. damn. other 60 odd shots uploading as we speak.

Here is a basic rundown of events from today.

10.30am we all met at the Shell servo just off the freeway on Thomas road.
Cars/owners in attendance - Subarino, Johnno, Matt, Mattims, 4MUFF, Alex, D3V1L, Lapsed.

From there we headed 5 minutes down Thomas road to the Kwinanna offroad area. Had to drive up the walkway slightly to get past all the barriers in place. We played around in the sandpit there and most of us had a successfull blast up the big rocky outcrops on the edge of the sandpit.
Johnno lead us through the bush in search of a little mud. Along the way we discovered a Hilux ute with a rather embarressed ocupant. He had tried to drive through quite a deep mud pit and not made it out the other side. He had no recovery gear either. We didn't think quick enough to hook up a Suby to pull him out, instead Chris' mate pulled him out with his Prado.
We continued through the bush and found some other "real" 4x4's bogged before we headed back to the servo for a bite to eat.
Johnno had to depart at this point but kindly lead us back to Thomas road first.

Then we decided to check out 90 acres and headed out onto Ennis Ave. We got there and immediately started cutting absolutely sick in a little mud pit. I beleive everybody got in there and had a go. This is where all of us got nearly all the mud on our cars for the whole day. We went and checked out the main mud area but it was basically just a big lake - way to big and deep after the recent rain.
Alex departed at this point to go fishing. He wishes he didnt now after hearing some of the rest...

After that we decided to head abit further down to the Rockingham sandpit. We shocked a dirtbike kid, hearing him say "wow another one!!!!!" (that was only with the 4th out of the 8 cars passing him). Subarino had a few minor heat/power steering issues after cutting up some MAJOR donus in the sandpit. We all had fun on the little hill climbs along the edge. We then went exploring over to the other side and found another limbstone area. We got screamed at by a random motorbike rider who didn't take kindly to our presence for some reason.
A few of us had the idea of going up to Jarrahdale. Everybody was keen so off we went!

We made it there in good time and went straight into the bush. The gravel tracks were easy without too many ruts or rocks in the way. Soon enough we came to some parts which required slow driving and controlled decents. All of a sudden we found ourselves in a pretty hardcore decent. It was very long and unforgiving, many of us bashing the undersides of our cars quite abit.
I should mention at this point that now we had began exploring, not really knowing what was around the next corner.
We passed several "no trespassing" signs and continued along our merry way. We drove up the side of a hill, had fun chucking rocks at a dead tree (??). Then we checked out the view we could see and decided it would be good if we drove all over the mountains we could see in the distance. After checking out what looked like a possible route we started driving down that way. It came to a little water crossing so we went accross and found ourselves on the side of a mountain but this was unfortunately a dead end. After going a little further down we went across another water crossing (same stream) and hit the jackpot. We had full access to two massive mountains and even what looked to be a hertiage listed building.
We got some good photos then started driving right up the side of one of the mountains. Got nearly to the top but it seemed way too steep after that so we went back down again. At this point it the sun was starting to go down so we started thinking about trying to find a way out. We certianly weren't keen on going back the way we came so started exploring the larger tracks. Came to a dead end the first one we tried, it was somebody's back yard and we weren't game to go knocking on their door so turned around and tried the other direction. This was looking far more promising as it was following the big water pipes.
Subarino's GPS came in very handy to find a known road.
We finally found this road but we were blocked by a very sturdy looking gate. We contemplated breaking it down (it was nearly dark) but then found a very steep but short slope which lead up onto the road. Subarino and Hatch took a couple of tries but then blasted up it and to freedom. Next Chris had a go but didn't quite make it. Hatch quickly pulled him up with a strap, then Chris pulled each one of us up one after another.
From there it was a short trip back to bituman and we were all home free.

Damage report.
Surprisingly hardly anything...
- Mattims car was blowing HEAPS of smoke but it looked in the end to just be some hoses that had come off causing alot of oil to go down the exhaust and burn off. There was also some slight damage to Matt's sill from hitting a rock.
- hmm......I seriously can't think of anything else!

This was easily the best trip for a long long time. I don't know about you other guys but I couldn't wipe the grin off my face the whole way home. Can't wait for the next one!!

Forgot to add....We even got comments by a total random on the way home. Some guy in a Patrol was asking us on the CB about where we went to get all the mud on our cars. Then he had the old "wtf is this Subarino car??" conversation with Dave

LOL its been the only trip we have had (and you have been on) in ages.

Sound like a gread day and sorry we could not make it, we'll attempt to be at the next 1.

im with u there....lol.... but spend a little more time there....like head ther in the morning so theres more time for the exploring....
