Timing on Webered EA82

Post by suba88 » Fri Jun 22, 2007 6:19 pm

I've just done an engine swap, and put the weber carby onto the new engine but i cant remember how i set the timing on the old engine to stop the Pre ignition (dieseling). Any help would be great, i'm pretty sure its only a few degrees past or before TDC????

Cheers paul

I could run my old EA81 at 14deg, but on PULP fuel only.

Yeah, this would be the other way to go, run premium fuel all the time should eliminate detonation...

yeah i used to run about 14 degrees with 98 octane and it would run on slightly so i backed it back to 12 and that stopped that.

Just the mid strength mate, never noticed any improvement using 98 with the EA81, just cost plenty more.
