VL Turbo Fuel Pumps
VL Turbo Fuel Pumps
how rare are these??
i have a guy i no thru work who is tryna chase up one for me but eh hasnt had any luck (he does only scour the wreckers nto new)
i dont wanna see the price of a new one really as wheve got a spare EFI pump at work which was 150 and only a basic unit and guessing these are dearer.
is there another choice i can use, just any that will fit and do the job? why is it said to use these ones?

New ones are about $150 aint they. I don't think i would buy one 2nd hand... they don't seam to be the most reliable of things.... run em dry a few times and they **** themselves.
Another option is the EA82 EFI pump... i have tested one of these on my ej22 and it worked fine... they also have a thingo on em that prevents fuel surge... the VL pumps don't.

EJ conversion wiring harness cut downs available. Please PM or email ([email protected]) for details.
I had a n/a VL fuel pump inline as an additional pressure pump to the Malpassi adjustable fuel reg, worked well.
If you were to buy new, there are some good Bosch ones to look at that deliver higher flow and pressure.

EJ22 fuel pumps are inside the tanks.
Other option is Camira (2.0 litre) fuel pumps are the similar as N/A VL pumps. The pump is located drivers side under-near rear wheel.
Cheers

Just clicked in my mind, its JD 1.8 Litre Camira, JE 2.0 Litre Camira, VK EFI (Not sure about carby?) Commodore, VL & VN with external fuel pumps, normally they are located in rear drivers wheel area where the tank is.
Its an fairly big pump its is approximately same size as a mug and slightly taller than a mug. - I'd say about 15mm long by 10mm dia.

The Bosch pump from the VL Turbo Commode is not hard to find , they do have the pulse damper as well but its not part of the pump outlet (extra gadget on VL's pump mount bracket) .
Power wise a VLT makes 150Kw which may not sound like much but remember Kw = torque x revs and an RB30ET is not exactly a high reving engine . Smooth and torquey in a 1270 Kg VL .
A VLT Bosch pump can easily handle the power outputs of most EA82T's given that they have limited breathing abilities .
My opinion only but rising rate fuel pressure regulators are a poor band aid for injectors running out of capacity . If your serious you'll change the injectors and use some sort of electronic interceptor to correct the std computers signals and air fuel ratio . Gee tells me that the Jaycar kit boxes allow you to modify the hot wire MAF meters output and even use a larger MAF . So with the ability to use larger injectors/MAF and have tuning flexibility your laughing . I also hear that the fuel cut from the MAF sensing high airflow (boost) can be side stepped as well .
Possibilities , cheers A .

I bought a Bosch pump from ebay - to suit VL turbo / nissan etc. Think it was 070 from memory
Fixed all my woes - the factory one must have been near end of life.
Only comment being that they are noisy - even when mounted correctly. Only had it in a a few weeks, but will diffinately installing into the next EA82Ted subaru

I went to u-pull it.. Got 1 MPFI EA82 pump and 2 more that looked the same off other cars. All of them work fine and I got out the gate for only $63 or something like that... I don't care if one dies as I keep another in the car at all times. Plus it was $120 od cheaper then 1 new one which may just die out of the box, who knows.
Yes, I run an EJ22.. And when the pumps prefilter isn't blocked I get plenty of fuel to the engine.
