do Qld cops record you when you are pulled over?
a mate has just told me that he thinks the cops record your converastions with them when they pull you over and give you a ticket, does anyone know if this is true???
if it is surely they should let you know prior to talking, i know its illegal for the likes of telstra to do it thats why they tell you its for training purposes and if you dont want to you can tell them to bugger off?

They would have to let you know.
First time I ever got pulled over for speeding in 97 the copper told me he was gonna tape it (crap, I thought - never heard of this I must have done something bad!)
Yes, they would need to advise you they were recording the conversation, and if they didn't the recording would not be admissable as evidence in court.

Sounds like BS to me.....
Might want to record the conversation yourself though. For your own protection incase they happen to say something proving they are screwing you!

I got a speeding fine in March on the side of the highway the cop was on his own i am 95% sure i was being recorded.
He had something in his hand basically aiming it at me i thought it was the devise that showed me the speed i was going but he asked me if i wanted to have a look in his car to see the speed i was going on the radar unit.
By the way he was going the other way so be careful

Yep, used to do the same when i was in DPI as an enforcement officer. Back then it was more for our own protection rather than evidence against the (offender). It stopped a lot of false accusations of harassment.intimidation and assault. Back then it was legal as long as one of the people being recorded was aware that it was happening, which in this case the policeman in question would be. Nothing to be afraid of, just be civil and normal and as was the case back then, if the tape is used in court proceedings you can probably use it yourself as evidence in defence.
