4wd tracks?
Best to meet up in Barmera and head to the gate as a group as most of the time he has the gate shut. If you do want to come after the meet up you might need to contact him on UHF channel 2 and tell him your with the Subie group. But if we all go in together its less stuffing around for him. You'll probably have to pay at the gate and sign the paper work too.

I live down south here so that is a prime location for me to come along too.. Just don't have a 4WD to do it in, don't want to drive the Brumby offroad while I'm selling it (unless someone is interested and wants to see it perform.)

Depending on what time my brother might be able to come along in the 4-runner. Then I could come with him.

Cheers for the advice.
I've been talking to many people.
The 3L TD (1KZ-TE) is the same motor my parents 01 Hilux dual cab has. It is noisyish, but I like to hear my motors a little. It has plenty of power. Never seen oil outside of the motor in it. Never even had a problem, and they've owned it for about 45,000K's. They've driven around Tas, up QLD and NT. Oh, forgot, it did break a fan belt down in Tas.
I have to tell you, this is the first place/time I've heard bad about the 1KZ-TE. I knew the turbo 2L-TE's had problems, but I want more power then a 2.4t.
Still not sure, but we'll see. I've got 3 cars to get rid of before I can buy so plenty of time for research.

Just had a thought guys; that considering S.A is how should I put it "SA's a bit lean on FWD tracks" that we should combine are knowledge. So I thought I would start a new thread so we can leave info on tracks that we have been on; Such as where it is, what you thought of it, if its legal to be there or not.
So what do you reckon.

I once said I'd never give my Subie up. Things have changed though. I am a builder at heart. I got my Brumby so far, and now there was only stupid crazy mods to do. (I was going to fit 6 stud 4WD brakes to it using bigger CV joints and custom driveshafts.) The diff locker was about the only simple mod left to do on it. Of cause the guy is still having trouble making that, so I guess it may be so far away I won't even get to use it.jsubie wrote:Yeah it could be that we just luv are Suby's so much. I know I have had little experience off road so far but I am sure one day I will come across something that the Suby just wont be able to pass, but to give up my Suby never.
I need a towing rig, and no matter what I do to the Brumby it won't be able to tow my planned 1500kg load safely. I was looking at an impreza, but it wouldn't be a good tower either. I don't like the look of the Liberty's so they are out of the question. And a good Outback is out of my price range.
Looking at the Land Rover Discovery's now. but I'm not too sure about the 2.5TD. Seems like a stretch to pull the 1.9tonne truck and a 1.5tonn load.
Anyhow, this is really a discussion for another thread.
Sounds good to me.. If you can find the location on Google maps too that is a lot of help for finding your way there. Much better then a page full of instructions on how to get to places.jsubie wrote:Just had a thought guys; that considering S.A is how should I put it "SA's a bit lean on FWD tracks" that we should combine are knowledge. Yes, morgan is pretty awesome. Went there in my Bro's dual locked 35" Micky T 4Runner. Some very gnarly climbs and some easier stuff.
It's just south of Morgan which is up the road from Blanchtown. Not sure on the legal side of it though?
