l-series + ej22 + crossmember + engine mount
l-series + ej22 + crossmember + engine mount
hi all.
I was just under my car and i noticed ANOTHER broken engine mount..ggrrr.
Now, are you should you slot the crossmember holes where the engine mounts bolt up? This is the only thing i can see which is breaking engine mounts!
PS. Its a ej22 into a standard l-series cross member.
Thanks heaps
alex

why did it break an engine mount pretty much as soon as i did the conversion, and now its done another one no more than a month after i replaced it? (i noticed it today, god know how long its been broken for)
also its not in TWO pieces yet
(maybe someone with a l-series can verify this?)

EJ22 into ur caris liek mine lol.
i slotted my holes. and yes mine did break on me rather fast. but i replaced em with NEW ones and they are good now. (for who knows how long).
i did notice the engine twists alot more in the MY than it did in the liberty. which does affect mounts.
as does ur driving
moral of my story is.
They seem to break mounts faster in other cars.

What you need to do is instal a tapered purlin washer to allow the mount to sit correctly on the crossmember. There is a slight angle difference between the L/MY crossmember engine mount face to the Liberty ones. The fatter side of the washer should sit to the outside of the engine.
