I like the nods, waves and gestures you get from other subaru MY/L owners, reminds me of my driving brothers old vw beetle.

Not saying the owners of newer subies are rude, just theres alot more of them on the road and alot arent that involved in their car.

i like it when people stare at my car as im pulling out-why the hell does this guy have a cannon on an ol carby bunky subaru- and as they lose interest and turn away the turbo spools up and an angry exhaust note leaves them in awe. well so id like to think hahah.

the wtf stares at the lights are the best.

My sole surviving subaru is still motorless. One day after I'm finished with the dark side I'll get around to putting in the motor I picked up for it. Until then I'm happy enough playing on the darkside.

i drive mine a minimum of once a week. nothing beats pulling away from every one as i mash the peddle to the floor, and the exhaust note is purely fantastic,

but getting away from my rice car i now have the CUBES to match any criticisim... a brand new XR8 ute....
http://www.flickr.com/photos/justintwo/
but note to self subaru is cheaper to run even when utalising all 15psi of boost... the new ute has done 500km and well it is defiantly lots of fun :D but come this saturday i know ill be driving my subaru to work

side note the pannelvan is now for sale mint condition as well big demand for clean ones now of days....

One thing I like about being a Subaru owner is that you can be all crazy about your car, safe in the knowledge that there are hundreds of people like you who are just as bad! And when you keep rambling on about Subarus other people just roll their eyes and mutter something about Subaru people being crazy. :p

There's two of us on my shift at work who love Subarus. You can see the painful looks on the other guys' faces when we start talking and winding each other up hahahaha

The best thing about owning a subaru is when you're out 4wd'n with mates and another pack of bigger 4wds come along and give you that classic "wtf are you doing here in a subi" look.

Its gold every time.

Hi Everyone!

A friend of mine got me onto this forum, and while I've been observing and learning (not overly mechnically savvy unfortunately!) I thought I'd make my first post...

In 2002 I got my first Subie (Forester Ltd)...my main hobby is stormchasing, so as you can imagine it gets driven pretty hard at times, often in very hot conditions. Yet for five years it never missed a beat and I traded it in at 298,500km...never once had to put in a drop of oil or even top up the radiator (other than when they got changed obviously). Certainly couldn't have been happier :D It was hit by roos, pounded by hail, windscreen smashed by flying debris from storms and went through countless flooded roads and still was great.

Have a 2007 Forester X now...nearly up to 60,000 and all is well (although this car seems to be using a little more oil and water than the old car, oh the horns seem to get water in them through water crossings!)

I don't drive mine everyday unfortunately.
But one of the best things you can do is drive right up to a bogged-to-the-arse Landcruiser, stop, then drive around it, laughing as you power away throwing 30 foot roosts in the air. I love doing that.

Only ever had one , this 86 RX Turbo which I've had not quite 12 months .

In the past I had lots of good times with 80's era cars and this one would have been a good thing in its fresher years . I got this one with 249K on it and now nearly 272K . Engine wise its showing its age but that's not surprising for what it is .

For an 86 a the feature set was good , 4WD/injected/turbo/4 wheels discs/5 spd dual rage box/all independent suspension/AC and power steer .

"Ellie" does 4-600 km a week and while its no rocket ship its generally quite reliable .

There are a few things that could have been better such as heads that crack and a poorly designed exhaust manifold .

This is my daily drive as I never intended to put lots of miles on the R33 Skyline . Its good in that to most people its an insignificant looking tin box , the very faded 4WD Turbo RX decals don't stand out . Can park it anywhere because no one knows what it is and probably wouldn't bother looking closer if they did .

These cars don't have much presence on the road and because they're reasonably compact drivers of larger cars treat it with utter contempt . They pull out in front of it and change lanes on me all the time - probably think that thing 'l bounce off .

I'm putting a fair bit of effort into better suspension/brakes and warmed over Vortex turbo donk and hopefully Ellie can one day thumb its nose at the lumbering "giants" . I have done this with other seemingly insignificant cars and the looks on their faces - priceless .

A .

well.........
i had always loved WRX's especially wagons/hatchs. as i was looking for a second car and wanted something different but with power and reliablity... i came to the decision of buying a wrx. a friend of mine who has a GC8 wrx sedan helped with the decision. as the wagons aren't quite as common, thats what i went looking for and found. im happy as, best handling car i've owed to date and the girlfriend likes driving it too ( she's not allowed but also doesnt want to drive my other car ).

it doesnt get driven very often anymore though as i got a company car since buying it.... plus we now have five cars at home
