Stuck power window

Post by Plicata » Fri Mar 21, 2008 2:16 pm

Hi, the left rear power window on my L Series is stuck in the fully open position. I've ruled out the switch as the cause because:

a) the switch operates the other window properly
b) the switch from the other window still doesn't work.

When you press the switch for 'down', you can hear the motor try to start up. When you press for 'up', there is complete silence. I think I'll have to remove the motor and try to manually raise the window.

Any other suggestions?

I had this issue with my MY tourer, have you tried directly applying power to the motor, this worked for getting the window back up, I never got around to finding the cause of the problem though.

Hi, thanks for the responses, esp Jordan because it worked! Ran one cable from the red wire in the switch and another from battery negative. Turned on ignition and up went the window. :D Disconnected it so that it can't be wound down again.
