quick help needed

I cant seem to find the squash ring for the oil drain plug. Ive looked through the oil, and on the plug itself. Are they essential, and where can i pick one up?

Some will say they are essential some will say they are not. My 2 cents is that your supposed to replace them with a new 1 every time you take the old 1 off. I get them from Subaru and they will set you back about a dollar.

I have not put my sump nut in without a washer so i am not able to advise you on the consequences of doing so.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

Go to your local spares, they should have copper or aluminium washers of various sizes.

I've never paid attention to that and none of my sumps have leaked around the drain plug. Can't do any harm to renew them tho, I'd say do it if you have the means.
