brumby clock in dash

Post by Joshamc » Fri Oct 19, 2012 8:04 pm

Hi can anyone tell me if you can fix a clock thats stopped working in the dash of a brumby. Also i was thinking of maybe putting a tacho there instead but would like to fix the clock first.

If you don't mind pulling your speedo console apart to repair the clock you may be able to get it to work again. I pulled a working clock out of my speedo and did this

see where the clock lived; it took about 2 hours all up, to get the speedo out, pull it apart, get the tacho to fit and put it all back together.

Tacho looks sweet. Very tempting. I have a spare dash which i pulled the clock out of to have a look. What do i need to do to fix it though? nothing obvious standing out to me.

An FBH then you replace the clock with a working one or a tacho :)

seriously there is a solder joint somewhere in the clock that breaks. if you can find it and solder it you can fix the clock.

Mechanical temp guage, I don't trust the one in the cluster as it is hooked up to an EJ sender.

It is 52 mm

I removed the front bit of the tacho to make it fit, I didnt have to modify the cluster at all.

when I put it all back together it just sat in place.

Darn sight better result than mine when i tried to jamb in an L Series tacho over where the clock was. Many years ago I thought a clock in the dash of a car was seriously - a joke, ugly, waste of space. That was back when I wore a watch, and before I got a car with a clock - My Brumby !! Gonna miss that clock one day for sure ...52mm tacho eh ??

Gees I messed with that hard white plastic casing in the back of the cluster, was it with a die grinder ? :(
