I'll post a new thread soon,

I bought the car with 206k on it, it now has roughly 230k, havent done the heads or timing belts, was sorta hopeing it had already been done I couldnt find out because I bought it from a backlot at a car yard where it had been traded in. It did have recipts in the glovebox to about 170k in servicing belonged to some dude who worked at an airfield in qld.

Why im not sure if it's worth doing is because is because ive been driving it for about a week topping up the coolant, I checked the oil when it first happened and it was fine. I thought I might have been lucky and just been burning the coolant, then I looked at it the other day and it was way overfull with that awful milky oil :(.

Me too. Just hope this rain eases up... I can't see my road tyres doing very well at this point in time - I guess that's the fun of it.

So is everyone happy with the 9am meet at the Carlsruhe BP?

And so far I know that the following are attending:

- AP
- Heath
-Venom
-Suberman
and myself + rangie mate that I'll be directing to our location as he's coming down later.

I should have at least one uniden hand held radio in my L, I can't find my one, I'll be stealing my brother's for the day :D

I just gotta ask dad about BBQ on back hill, I don't see a problem there, if there is I'll strap the BBQ to the roof, that way we can stop when we feel like it... Update that later in the week.

Looking foward to it - Hope I get some sleep!

Cheers

Here's a map to the servo, the website puts the servo up at the Cobb & Co Rd/Three Chain Rd intersection - there's actually a weigh bridge there. Anyway, the map:

Image

The bottom right note is trying to say that when travelling from melbourne, if you cross off the exits from the bottom to the top this is how it will look (these are main town exits, not every one along the way!)

IF you reach KYNETON you've gone too far, get off at the next exit and turn around!

Hope this gives you a good visual reference.
Bennie, I had a look on google maps. It came up with this.

Image

Google maps shows Cobb&co rd as Calder hwy and Cheveley rd as Springvale rd. It also showed Three chains rd intersecting with Mobrays rd, about 1k north east of where it shows on your map.
If Google's map is right, where is the BP servo? You show it on the corner of Springvale(cheveley) but say it's at the
Three chains - Mowbray(cobb & co?) intersection?

SuberMan,
When you're driving on Calder, you'll see a sign that says "Carlshuhe & (I forgot other one) and you have to exit on the off ramp, turn left across the bridge to other side, turn left on Old Calder Hwy you'll see the BP station by the time you're crossing the bridge, the BP is on the left side of the bridge.. Can't miss really. Just same where the red dot is where Bennie said.

No worries there dave, we're both looking at maps that are inaccurate. The calder Hwy has been re-named Cob & Co Rd; Springvale Rd is named correctly on your map. And the BP servo is at the red dot, trust me, it was still there friday ;) Where the internet map puts it there is a weigh station.

Just make sure you take the Carlsruhe Exit, that way you can't miss it. I'm not going to name the other town listed on the exit as I know it may confuse you - its listed on the one before you need to exit the freeway...

Heath, no worries mate, it should be fun anyway. I'd like to see the cruiser in action but I'd love to see some subi's having a good time showing up the cruiser and rangie (the rangie takes 4wd'n skill requirement away in some respect but creates a very controlled 4wd experience with traction control and individual wheel torque control, not to mention its airbag suspension... its interesting to watch).

Cheers

Ok Bennie, thanks for clearing that up. Tell me your call sign and what radio channel you'll be on just in case I end up at the Kyneton races
Actually, I come past Deer Park on the western ringroad en route to the Calder, Alpine Raven. Maybe we can meet and drive up together? I'll let you have a radio if you say yes.;)

cheers for the info guys,

Would it be rude of me to rock up with a dirty subi? Benji (rangie mate) and I went 4wd'n today and got Ruby Scoo even dirtier :D Was a good time!

Heath, probabily not, but i doubt he'd need to... Anyway, I much prefer my subi...

After today I can't wait for Saturday!

*groans* I just washed my Liberty yesterday morning before work after going off road 2 weeks ago and spent $8 cleaning up thought I'll arrive there clean & have pics before go off road & get damn dirty... I have to leave the bush dirty - not clean, if its not dirty means I am not trying hard enough! lol yeah?

So I'm guessing this reads as the following: Bennie you lazy bum, pull your finger out and give Ruby Scoo a bloody wash.

"okay". That'll make her third wash since the one in Perth... Man I am lazy.

Let me know if I'm posting here too much - if I start answering my own posts you know I can't sleep in anticipation

Okay, just been checking out maps.google.com - the new "street view". I didn't think they'd have my parents joint on there being out in the country and all but they did.

I did a bit more "poking around" and found out that one of the main roads in the forest has been photographed.

In the "search maps" type in "Ridge Rd, Cobaw, Victoria, Australia"

Then zoom in anywhere along that road, click on "street view", move the little man around and a speech bubble window will appear with a view of on the ground.

With this view you can zoom in and out, spin around etc...

Its insane!

You can check out the BP servo meeting place - the price of fuel was 149.9 at the time of the photos...

I hope someone checks it out before the day...

Cheers

I got a video camera now

I'll steal mum and dad's video camera too, that way we should beable to get some good footage for uses including editing...

That brings the tally to:

2 video cameras and one digi camera...

Also, BBQ sorted for the back hill, got the green light from the property owner, aka Dad.

Is it saturday yet **chomps at nails**

Cheers
