Yeah i heard about it, my brother is in Byron Bay at the moment and Ive just rung him, he said the town is preparing for it.

It'll be interesting to see how 'big' when it hits in Eastern states Australia & NZ as well.

Looks like it not a big event as far as Hawaii goes, and the adviseries on the coast here are for tide surges, mainly in harbors, rivers etc. Checked out my beach before it was due to hit here...everything looked ok

I've got a friend stuck in Chile at the moment. He was at Santiago airport when the quake stroke. He's ok, but he said the airport is a bit destroyed and he's got no idea when he'll be back in Oz.

in one of the photos you can see where it was filled in before so it would seem at some stage that it was like that before

Has anyone heard what the eta is? My Dad is over in Brissy so I might call him. I'm thinking that it will fade out by the time it reaches here but I guess they must warn everyone just in case.

It's obviously way better to be prepared than not and I know things are way past their impact time but as someone who was in the Newcastle earthquake of the late 80's it brings back shivers to me.
hope all are OK

Can't really surf a tsunami. It's just like crap whitewash, and then you're in the carpark with the debri.

TOONGA
Howdy Toonga,
No fill at this area, it has lost 5 miles of land over the last 20 years. Took a walk yesterday with my son and the pictured houses are gone. My part of the coast has been built up from this erosion, and as the ocean has started taking it back a barge from the late 1800's has appeared, or major hunks of it.
