Removing Lift Kit

Post by RedNekTJ » Sun Jul 05, 2009 6:32 pm

I am thinking about removing the lift kit out of my Brumby. Was wondering what length bolts and how many of each, I will need to replace the ones removed with the lift kit. Would much rather be able to have everything ready to go before starting rather than taking it all apart, measuring the bolts I remove, minus the 2 inch for the lift then getting the bolts needed.
Cheers Nick

Hey,
can't help you with the length of bolts, but is the kit good enough to sell and for how much. I could possibly help you remove it so as to learn how to refit it.
Interested?

Should be good enough to sell, haven't had any issues with it, just would rather have the car sitting lower, could probably do with a bit of a clean tho. Don't know how much, how much are the new ones going for?

About $200-250 is the going rate for a good condition second hand kit.

I don't mind. A swap sounds GREAT! ;)

Seriously though, it's for my teenage daughter's car so $200 is to much for a casual worker still at school. She can barely afford the petrol.
I just thought it was worth asking. :-D

What does the ute have behind the engine because your ute may need the clearance in the transmission tunnel my auto needs the space hence why mine has a lift kit! But If you don't sell to Ian then you might be best going to a wrecker and buying the bolts you need as well as the steering knuckle etc!
87 targa brumby (Neglected),
92 targa brumby (weekend runabout),
97 Lifted Outback (Dailey drive),
05 outback safety (Too cheap to pass up),
90 model liberty (was to be scrapped instead sold to workmate)
+ others.

Still got the standard gearbox at the moment but will go AWD gearbox some time this year hopefully, so might wait till that goes in and see how much clearance I've got around the new gearbox.

No, I am currently unsure if I'm going to lower the brumby or run the lift so will be keeping the lift kit until I make up my mind. Also for other peoples info I have removed the strut spacers and all the rear components of the lift kit, still utilising the engine, gearbox spacers and steering shaft extension and have had no issues. It has flattened out the rear driveshaft angles and also the front cv angles so there should be longer life out of the front cv's hopefully.

I've got a TJ Wrangler with 4 inch lift for 4wding so the brumby doesn't see any offroad action anyway
