Hi Gang
I just brought a 88 4wd turbo vortex, air sup, 5spd man, one 88 year old owner previously.
Now i have to figure out what to do with the 85 auto vortex and the 86 wreck ive got as well.
Any ideas.
Cheers Pete

sorta curious as to what sort of money one might pay for one of these ? 4WD 5 sp manual turbo sounds good. you gotta ask how much caning an 88 year old has given it in its life :) :)

Well i suppose he caned it good, as it blew up on the way home from buying it.
I say the oil pump failed and one or two heads have blown gaskets. The motor i asume is now rooted.
The rest of the car is reasonable and the drive train is good.
I going to ring the previous owner and see if they will come to some arangement but i dont like my chances.

Bugger! I guess its a good time to go the EJ turbo

Is this turby 4wd vortex the single AWD version? If so that gearbox is RARE! Rarer than the DR FT5spd L box in Oz anyway.

Good luck with finding a solution.

Cheers

Does your wreck have a reasonable engine in it?

The wreck motor is a multi point 86 but has sat for 5 years.
The 88 vortex has a single range 4wd with diff lock no air sup , it has reasonbly new coils, all the drive train was renewed and the radiator, water pump etc. The previous owner will let me know tomorrow if he will return some of the money.

Subafury on this forum also has a turbo motor forsale which was running only a few weeks ago and has a known history for the last couple of years, no doubt substantially cheaper.
