is your ea82 standard? or modified or what???
personally i dont think its even worth doing if the motor is anything short of highly modified
mat over here ran a microtech mt8 on his... can i didnt think the motor performed especially good, even with a wrx turbo and intercooler

pretty much standard, just fully rebuilt and when i had the heads done they were ported and polished, lightened and balanced rods, crank and flywheel, apart from that it was all as factory bar slightly over sized pistons. I run a rising rate fuel reg and have the boost set at 9 psi. The main reason i am looking to change is i have no way of checking the standard ecu as the dyno plug is shagged so i cant connect a scan tool etc to set mixtures, timing etc etc

something simple would prolly be ample for ur motor
something like a wolf 3D, microtec mt8 (one for sale on here), or even a haltec e6x.... all reasonably priced computer......but once u buy a ecu u still need to get it tuned to run the motor so its not gonna be a cheap thing regardless how u do it

i'd definately say microtech, maybe since i sell them cheap and i have used them lots. best value for money there is imo. the cheapest microtech new is the lt10s (more inputs and outputs compared to an mt8 or lt8), but other than that pretty much the same. they are simple to install and simple to use.
i use a lt8s on my astina and it's na. i didnt make a huge gain in power (only 4kw at the wheels) on the inital tune, but it made that everywhere. took 0.6 seconds off my 1/4 mile time alone! there'd be even greater gains on a turbo engine because of the a/f ratios and more appropriate timing

An ecu can be strongly influenced by the tuning shops nearby and the cost involved in the installation and dyno time. Every workshop has there preferred unit. That been said the ems and microtech are the best bang for buck basic unit as long as you find a shop willing and able to tune them.
