Starting issue - auto outback
i would, but i bought the battery in kalgoorlie, for a super duper special deal through my company with westrack, and the battery has no stamp nothing on it, and because its not used for work purposes i could get into trouble..hehehe if thy find out i put it in my car..lolFROG wrote:try them out for warranty anyway most batteries are date stamped, be worth a go anyway

need 2 people for this, but put a multi meter on the solenoid terminal for the starter but leave the wire connected and measure the voltage, if there is low volts there say 6 that your problem, its not pulling the contacts on far enough, mine has/was doing the same thing, you can do a patch by adding a relay.
use the starter wire to activate the relay and run a feed from the battery to the starter.

captain, this is exactly the problem i was having...and i have done exactly what u have just explained:), the starter motor problem has now been solved its now just my dicky battery which im displeased about but im obviously gonna have to fix it regardless

dud batteries happen.I brought a battery once and it wouldn't hold volts so i rang the mob i brought it off ,said they were new owners.So i rang the manufacturer and they said the battery was 2 years old and had been sitting on the shelf.Doesn't help you much though.

i found out the hard way at work
1.5 tonnes of water tank on trailer,,, middle of boggy sand, 200 odd metres from nearest hard road
turned car off
never started back up :P
and like i said..it was charging at idle. it was even chargins at 2000 revs,,, anything HIGHER and it was not charging...was draining battery, and according to the subaru workshop i went to today, they put it on an analysis machine....and said up untill 2000 revs it was charging to proper capacity, but faster it span, the bushes slowly detatched from the centre bit
