EJ with twin sports exhaust?
Has anyone got one on their car...or heard, an EJ with a twin sports exhaust system...???
Does it sound any good...?
Would it sound much different to a single pipe system...?
Coz Im considering a twin system on my EJ25.
Regards

MMmmm sure sounds nice....wished I could have heard it.BrennyV wrote:I once herd a twin cannon style system on a wrx show car, had less drone. tho it all comes down to mufflers used and sizes.
Most of the late model subes are twin exhaust as standard, tho Im yet to see someone put a sports kit on one...
What would it take to get a deep down growl sound out of an exhaust you rekon Bren...? Im guessing it would come more down to exhaust bore size than muffler wouldnt it? My 3" on the rex sound nice n deep. What do you have on your sti?
the motor makes a big difference to the sound.
im running ej20g now, with a 2.5inch dump-back system to one smallish hotdog to a cannon muffler. Its got the wrx growl. You heard my car with this setup at the bbq karen, just running ej22. sounded pretty nice.
wouldnt go any bigger than 2,5inch either with an ej25. power loss MAY result.
twins however, i think it did come up a while ago. have a search, not sure tho.

Yeah, I noticed your EJ20G upgrade only recently Alex. Good stuff. I thought you were happy with the ol EJ22? Are you happy with the move to turbo? No regrets? Is the turbo lag any concern when offroading...? That was the ONLY thing stopping me from the EJ20G eng in the L.Alex wrote:the motor makes a big difference to the sound.

The WRX growl is definately gorgeous, no doubt about it. Tiz why I drive at times with the rear window on the rex slightly down to listen to the growl of the exhaust. But my L will have to be content with n/a enginge unfortunately.

I look forward to one day hearing your new system Alex....

I've got a single 2.5" exhaust on my EJ25 with custom 4-2-1 uneven headers, high flow cat, hot dog resonator, and oval muffler. That was the best combo i could come up with after researching some Liberty forums and talking to exhaust shops. I went with mild steel since i've head a few people complain that their stainless systems are too "tinny" sounding. My wagon sounds awesome. Can't help but think a twin pipe system would add unecessary cost and not add much in terms of performance.

Appreciate the feedback Venom....
I've also heard that tuned length headers give slightly more power, but diminished sound, cant do that now, goodness no. The mild steel comment makes sense too.... Yeah, I know twin pipes are a bit of wank factor but gosh they look hot, and symetrical, ...balanced. I've always been attracted to symmetry on cars for some reason...
On my old EA82, ALL I had was a hot dog muffler, nothing else, on a 2" system, I liked the sound that put out.

There isnt much point in a symmetrical twin exhaust system if ya gonna stick with uneven headersalways been attracted to symmetry on cars for some reason

yeah there is one... but I think it was on RSLC when I read about it... I recall them using left and right pipes for left/right side of the engines hence twin exhaust not joined.... that was a couple of years ago or ages ago..

My sti runs a 'xforce' system with a xforce cannon with a 5" tip the muffler is dead overkill and drones bad, even with 2 hotdogs in the system. Tho a expensive muffler dose sound a hell of a lot better than a cheep one.L-Raiser wrote:MMmmm sure sounds nice....wished I could have heard it.

I would reccoment a magnaflow or a nice oval style muffler system with good baffel and at least 1 hotdog in the system to take out the burble and give more of a deeper sound.

Got purchased a twin centered sports exhaust for my car and the price was just fine from my local dealer. But some actually think this nothing as standard exhaust with a different end pipe.
