busy time this week for my car

Post by vidler » Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:57 pm

righto.

getting stuck into my car this week im back. battery had collapsed so i bought a nice 4wd gel cell heavy duty number, bought some new rear hubs a while back, ive got the rear discs machined with new bendix pads, got new handbrake cables and pads. Front discs are getting machined today, waiting on new pads, making a press at the moment to push the front and rear bearings in, finally got round to buying some speakers for the boot, getting new windscreen on sunday coz mine is cracked top to bottom, will be welding tabs on the bullbar for ariel/spotties etc. thats about all i can think of for now but will probably find other things to do.

on another note, whats everyone's opinions on the new foresters vs tribeca?

The new Tribeca is quite an amazing car once you get away from the looks from the front. 7 seater with the second row of seats also able to be adjusted front to back (slide like the front ones).

The cockpit is a very futuristic wrap around affair that would grow on you very quickly.

New bigger motor is apparently very good. More torque and power than the previous model. Also meant to be better on fuel.

I think I would like to have one.

New Forester didn't appeal to me much. The B pillar still gets in the way when the front seat is right back. If you drive with you arm on the sill at all it is very uncomfortable.

The window frames aren't noticeable unless you look for them. They would trick a dedicated Subaru driver a few times until they got used to having them again. I do it myself when I drive my ute (Falcon) and open the door with the window down from outside. Quite often I nearly clean myself up with the window frame.

The look of the new Forester is quite good.

I doubt it will ever happen but the Forester with the big 6 in it would be excellent.

still needs a good bash plate before any off roading.

ive been comparing the 2 in case i get a job offshore. would buy a new one then. mainly looking at the foresters and tribeca. test driving them this wknd just for fun. only down side is tribeca is 59k onroad compared to forester xt for 45k on road. lot of money to justify. 2nd preference is an 05/06 forester xt if i cant bring myself to spend that much.

dont mind the front end of the tribeca. at least its better the 3.0l tribeca they released first:) but i think it looks like its nagging for a baby seat and thats not happenning any time soon.
