matts brumby

Post by preno » Wed Sep 17, 2008 6:44 pm

hi, thought i should finally introduce myself and my brumby. been on this forum for a while an its been great! :)

anyway me names matt and have had this brumby for about a year now. had to sell my first car, mk patrol, as i was a uni bum with no job and just couldnt afford it. this is her when we first picked her up, $850 :D 350000 on the clock but still running strong!

had to do a little to get her on the road but nothing major. bit of rust cutting here and there but all worked out well.
Made a surround to fit a cd player in nice and snug and also fitted some 6x9's behind the seats.

Then got bored one day in the shed and made this rear bar thing with spotlight mounts and spots to tie stuff down at the front of the tray. fits pretty good :D doesnt touch the chrome strip or anything! so then put a few 55watt spotties on it. they arnt wired in yet as ya can see but i have run a wire through the car just no time to hooking it all up.

then i thought i could do with a decent fuse box as i had added a few things + a lot more to come in the futur hopefully (uhf, reverse light, few other things) so put this one together...

now with all the lights and other stuff it using quite a few amps so ive been looking at an alternator upgrade. ive gotten a 85amp bosch out or a vr and physically it looks like it should fit with nearly no mods(only have done a few quick measurements) and the wiring looks pretty simple but will be a little while before i try anything. i will let yas no how it all goes, really just experimenting at the moment.

so thats basically it and this is how she stands at the moment..

but what i need is ur thoughts on what i should aim for next....

large lift and bigger tyres.. or ej22 + 5 speed

would love to do both straight away :D but yeh not enough cash at the moment... what do u guys think?

cheers

matt

love the fuse box, giving me ideas already, i like your style, just getting stuck into it.
where did you get the fuse box?
if you go for bigger tyres you wont fit the spare under the bonnet, so perhaps building a rear tyre holder, or something to sit the tyre securely in the back.
keep up the updates

If ya engine has plenty of life still in it, why not hang onto it for a tad longer ;)
Throw in a lift with some bigger rubber on those rims

cheers guys. good to hear from yas.

brumbee: got the fuse holder bit from supercheap and the plastic box from dick smiths. glued a few bolts in, drilled some holes. nothin flash but seems to do the job. as for the rear wheel carrier.. probly will do something like that when i go bigger tyres, already been thinkin about some sort of rear bar to cover up the ugly arse of the brumby, just to really neaten things up.

i have been leaning towards puttin in an ej rather than lift, the car is nearly slower than the old diesel i used to have haha but yeh time will tell. depends if i can get one cheap enough:)

thanks for your input guys, appreciate it.

oh an im after a tonneau cover for it so if anyone has an old one that they are wishin to sell let me know ay? :D

cheers

matt
