Price of fuel

Post by Outback bloke » Wed Sep 17, 2008 6:43 am

Any one else notice the price of fuel at the moment?

Oil is down to $93/barrel. Last time it was that price we were paying $1.10/litre. Even then it should have been under $1.00/litre and closer to 0.95/litre. Yet it is still well over $1.35 around here.

Yepp the oil companies have had a taste of the high proices - did you really htink they would lower their prices? $92 a barrell now and I still pay $1.53 here in Canberra - it sickens me!

Bloody thieves - all of them!

My wife filled up (Calwell in ACT) with Caltex Vortex 98 last Tuesday, she paid $1.60, I filled up at the same servo, same fuel on the Thursday and paid $1.76.

They're still making it, and while I can still afford it, jolly good.

What gets me is when they say that if oil is $200 a barrel it will be $2.00 a litre at the pump. So in my reckoning if it is $93 a barrel then we should be paying $0.93 a litre.

It's hearing about these prices that make me grateful I am not driving at the moment.

Problem is US dollar against AUD has increased some 15c in the last few weeks too, which doesn't help the cross rates.

When it was last under $100 a barrel our Ozzy $ was only about 80c/1USD so it should be as already stated back to around $1/L

Yes the fuel prices are complete BS and you would expect petrol to drop since crude is 92 US a barrel. But the economics of it is the AUD has dropped to 84 US cents from nearly on par with the US exchange rate a few months earlier. But with the consideration of these factors ULP 91 should really be 114.9 to 119.0 cents a liter. But as we all know by now Oil companies care only about maximising there profit as much as possible. They are bastards there is no denial in that.
