Howdy all,

2001 or 2002 (2000 or 99 at a pinch)
auto (you guessed it- its for the missus)
silver (large % of liberty are silver anyway so i will wait for a silver one)
air bags, cruise, ABS
FSH
less than 140,000km
preferably limited edition (if they exist?)
i have the cash ready to go- now just waiting for the right car to pop up.
cheers

i'll be perfectly honest with you- i'm chasing a reliable car for the missus, not a toy for myself, so i'm looking for something in pretty original condition. i.e i will be paying a higher price for lower km and better condition, not for modifications, rims, DVD player etc etc.
not saying i'm not interested, just that modifications as listed may not affect what i am willing to pay for the car as much as if it was for myself.
can you give me some more details? - eg: confirm my requirements listed above (colour, year, safety gear etc) and also who's done the servicing, any major repairs etc.
also, i'll PM you my email and if you could send me heaps of pics that would be helpful.
i'll refrain from offering a price until i know more but surely if you're selling you have it in the quokka or autotrader so what's your asking price?

its a 2001 liberty gx special edition
-economical 2l
-full leather/woodgrain interior
-special edition silver
-just broke 130k on the clock
-dual front airbags(drivers and passenger)
-ABS
-aircon
-had genuine subaru services up to about 60k(i think gotta check the book) and afew ultratune servies upto 80km when i bought it
-i did the 100k service myself which included a gates timing belt and every single thing that the genuine subaru service entails.(tranny fluid, rear diff, brake fluid etc etc etc)
-ive changed oil every 5-6000km with ryco filters using penrite sin10
-lowered on king spring lows
-bodykit(dunno if youll like it or find it suitable)
-very expensive stereo which id probably take out and put the stock stereo back in.
-17inch lenso mags with new marangaroni tyres($$$$)
-new heavy duty street brake pads
-HID's and JDM fog lights(rare yellow)
-very rare STi grille
-darkest legal tint
its a very nice car, looks very different to your regular liberty. very smooth, brakes work very well and she goes pretty well considering its a 2l auto.
i'll send you some pics tonight.

yeah no worries Keffa.
I'm chasing the 2.0L mainly because of the 2.5L head gasket issues. My understanding is that subaru's solution to this problem in the Phase 2 ej25 (powering the gen 3s) was to add a special conditioner to the radiator fluid. Not very reassuring.
i know some people have never had problems, but for every one of those theres about 5 who have. And i live north of Perth in a hot climate, which will exaccerbate the problem.
The 2.5 also uses more fuel (albeit marginally), and is more expensive to buy in the first place, so i just see the 2.0L as a better, cheaper, more reliable option.
and as stated it's mainly for the missus so power isn't an issue.
anyone care to add to or correct my opinion on the ej25? i'm no expert, but i have researched it a bit. incidentally, anyone know why the ultimate subaru message board no longer works? that was a good source of info.

The SOHC (EJ251) had nowhere near the problems the DOHC (EJ25D) had.west_oz wrote:yeah no worries Keffa.

If headgaskets went in 1 SOHC car, they went in 50 DOHC cars.
The Coolant conditioner is a yankee thing (they are also a Gen behind, call a Gen III a Gen II etc as they didn't get Gen 1's).
OzLiberty.com has abit of info, a few wankers on there too (where aren't they now?), but still pretty good.

yeah its funny you mention the US thing because i've just sort of realised all the horror stories about the 2.5 SOHC i have read i'm pretty sure are from the US.
is the ultimate subaru message board a US site as well? its down at the moment being repaired.
one of the guys on ozliberty also told me that the US liberties are made in the US, whereas ours are made in Japan, so maybe there's a fault in their manufacturing process?
either way i have a little bit more confidence in the RX now so maybe i will buy one if the right one pops up
