Apart from all the obvious stuff, they usually check the rubbers for wear or play etc, they look over the exaust for leaks aswell plus play in steering and suspension i.e. ball joints steering knuckes etc brake discs for grind marks and the like So crawl around underneath and tighten anything thats loose clean anything thats dirty then check for any protrusions (including tyres) They also dont like frayed or torn seatbelts or seats and if you have excesively worn floor mats cover them. It normally pays to give your car a detail before you take it and make it like its been looked after!
I went to all this trouble last tome and then blew an indicator bulb on my way there!

Went to the pit office to ask a few q's as i am taking the rs over next week
Min ground clearance 100mm from the lowest point of the car fully laden,no bov,no turbo timer,i also asked about exhaust noise,i have 3in turbo back with cat and muffler,
he asked me what car it was then he said that subarus in general pass with that sort of exhaust.
They have a noise meter of sorts to test if they reckon it's too loud.
Apart from that its the usual cv boots, play in the front wheel bearings, play in the steering, oil, exh leaks, some check belts,i got failed once cause the tint was all scratched!
Good luck.
PS: Don't forget to book for the test and make sure u have a temp permit if u r driving it there.

From what I gather you guys are really regulated on any vehicle mods. What brought this about? , or has it always been this way.
Cheers, mark

The turbo timer is an odd one that i wouldn't have known about as you would struggle to find a turbo diesel around home without one and they go through annual inspections, The BOV's have conditions over here like if they are vented they must have a muffler etc. But again haven't heard anything about them until now!

Something i had a problem with with my 83 hatch was the brake lines... they said these were too old and would need all the rubber lines replaced. I took the car home... painted the rubber lines with tire black paint and got a wire wheel onto the fitting ends.

They looked like new and i took it back and it past.
