New Project begins
It is not as easy as just fitting. There is alot of cutting to get to this point as well as many test fits. The dash is still along way off being finished. The ends and the top corners need to be fabricated, filled and the dash covered. Also the whole heater assembly ducting to be made and windscreen demister cover fitted.

Try contacting BYB-01 (Brett) or Subi Wan Kanobi - also check out the thread in the "Conversions, Modifications and Performance" section about the EJ engine into EA vehicle, there should be info there about adaptor plates.heath wrote:So does anyone sell a kit to install a ej2.2 into an my or do u have to build it yourself. Iv seen the kits to adapt the ea81 and 82 boxes to them but thats all
Also do a search on this site, it may come up with what your after.

Yes but anything is possible provided there was enough money, time and frustration involved and from what I see theres a lot of each in this namely the last two am I right, I looked into putting a Lib dash into my brumby and decided that I had other things to do on it first!Thalass wrote:Ah but it's possible and that's the interesting bit. I've become much too attached to my outback's aircon system and dash layout, you see.
It has been a while since I updated what has been going on.
1. Purchased and fitted front coilovers. (see pictures still a tad too low)
2. Starting to fill in the corners of the dash pad and today started to fix up the ends. (getting it all ready to be recovered). Only othert outstanding part of the dash is to route and manufacture air ducting for demister and the likes.
3. Front spoiler is getting there. Need to work out how to attach it.
4. Rear end including brakes fitted up. Just requiring the park cables to fitted and connected.
There is still alot to do but it is getting there. Next will be to remove the engine to get it ready for painting. I will need to warm up a bit as it is going to be sprayed in 2 PAK.
Enjoy

awesome work mate.
It'll be a sweet unit once its all together. I also admire the amount of work that's gone into mounting the WRX dashboard in the coupe. Top effort!

Hey mate, looks great so far. I'm doing pretty much the exact same thing with a brumby, dash and all over here. I was just wondering how you went fitting the WRX (if that's what you've used) heater box, fan and A/C evap in behind the wrx dash. Also how did you mate the fan to the opening in the firewall (for fresh air)? Did you have to modify the fire wall much? I don't suppose you could share a pic of the set up with the dash removed so I can see how it all fits in there? Are you using the WRX steering column? did you have to weld up new mounts for it? Sorry for the barrage of questions, just keen for a bit of a leg up
Cheers and good luck with the rest of the build.

Here is the latest pictures of the completed dash pad recovered and temp fitted. Not much has changed. Just completing alot of the little things that will tie the whole project together when it is done.
Engine is removed ready to tidy up then paint. Aiming to have the engine bay painted, engine and gearbox fitted with all the wiring sorted by then begining of next year. That gives me all next year to complete the body and have it on the road by dec 2009.
Enjoy

Started the painting of the engine bay and assembly of some of the components. Today I fibreglassed a copy of a series 1 scoop to the bonnet. All the scoop ducting matches up perfect and will be removable. This is thanks to stainless ducting from zerosports. This will be it for a month off to work up north. Still aiming to get the engine in for good by christmas. This depends on the amount of work with the loom.

I have completed alot in the last 2 weeks. The engine and gearbox is in, the wiring is 98% complete on the car, the engine bay is 95% complete and i have started the car and had it running. It is a tad noisy with just dump pipe and cat finishing at the back of the gearbox.
The climate control and dash is in, wiring is completed under the dash. All the switches and items work.
Today I started on finishing the front spoiler and started on the body work and prep ready to start and paint. I am aiming to have it finshed in another 6-8 months.
I will post some pics over the weekend showing where it is up too.
