VARIOUS EA82 HEADS TO VARIOUS BLOCKS QUESTION

Post by Wraith » Thu Feb 16, 2006 3:55 pm

hi everyone
i asked this question on the last forum, before it got destroyed, so i need to ask again

which heads/block combo are doable???

i want to keep running carb gear on a n/a engine

i have a good block and good manifold/carb set up.

will spfi / mpfi / turbo heads work??????

also

i have a good turbo block, but wrecked heads, will modified mpfi heads work???

and finally, how do you tell the differance between std heads and mpfi ones?? something with the ports i presume???

sorry if i have asked some dumb questions, i ust wanna confirm some things.

thanx all

There are only two types of dumb questions:

1) Those posted in the wrong forum
2) The question that goes unasked

Seeing as this is in the right forum I guess its not so dumb now is it!!

More on topic . . . The EFI/Turbo heads have twin inlet ports. The carby heads do not (yes I know there are other differences but  ).

You cannot use a carby EA82 manifold with MPFI heads, yet you can use MPFI heads on any turbo EA82 block, with the associated MPFI manifold of course.

ok mudrat, can u use standard carby gear/manifold etc, on an spfi heads and block???????

the reason i ask this, is because i have access to a fully rebuilt spfi ea82, but no manifold/fuel delivery devices.

so, will my carb/manifold bolt onto a spfi block and heads?????

i ask because u made no mention of spfi in your reply.

i hope you can give me a positive answer muddy :)

thanx
