Water Pump on EA82T

Post by BlackMale » Fri Feb 24, 2006 10:35 am

Yep after the new engine and for some strange reason needs to replace the thermostat gasket again (also replaced at time of rebuild) I now have to change the water pump – I am thinking that this engine has been sitting on a pallet for quite a while.

Anyway the water pump from the old engine was running fine so I’ll just use it and I have that engine to nut out how to get the bugger off/on. Anyway given that this is another job I have never had to do before are there any little tricks I should know about?

I am thinking just remove the air con unit (that has not been re-gassed since the conversion) and just take the old pump out and bung the older but working pump in simple right :? lol
Thanks

may as well do the belts while you are there as that ALL has to come off to get at teh pump.

as steve said there are TWO PUMPS for this engine. make sire you have the right one. one is 3-4mm shorter than the other in height.

Yeah according to my Hayne's manual its no quick/easy job. Infact if you end up undertaking this job, or even paying somebody to do it I would advise spending extra and buying a brand new pump. Wouldn't want to have to do it all over again in a short amount of time!
