MY05 Impreza RS 2.5

Post by Tradewind » Thu Feb 19, 2009 10:38 pm

Here are few pics of my Subaru, I am new to the world of Subaru's but definitely enjoying the drive, this car has the best brakes of anything I have ever driven!

Car is "almost" 100% stock with exception of some motor mods. I am running X-FORCE extractors and high flow exhaust behind that, bit noisey inside but otherwise not so bad.

The other non stock bit is the supercharger kit which works just fine, gives the car the beans it needs so I can really enjoy the benefit of AWD. Will add some WTA intercooling soon for a bit more all round power.

My Subaru experience is definitely all good at this stage.

Today I serviced the tranny with Redline Synthetic Shock Proof light and Penrite Synthetic in the rear diff. Motor runs Castrol Edge 5/30 Synthetic.

Welcome to the forum! I might have to mention the same mods to a mate who's got a 2.5 RS as well ;)

Cheers

RS on charge

Post by Tradewind » Fri Feb 20, 2009 12:02 pm

Hey yeah its a simple option with around 45% torque increase, and fits all models of Impreza from 98 (GC) - 05 (GD) with 2.0 or 2.5 engines. FIt may fit some 1.8s as well. All Australian made to boot as well.

I certainly enjoy mine no end, I have a timed run using electronic equipment at around 14.3@100mph which is so far ahead of stock is amazing. Stock clutch is fine with it too but I take care to run good lubricants in the gearbox since it can never get wheelspin on tar. On dirt it will easily spin all 4's for the first 2 gears no worries at all. Goes off the end of the speedo too and in less than 1.4ks from a stop  Thats on around 5.5psi max boost!

Anyhow, its all good and my everyday driver for me and wife ...... with family too!

Tell us more about the supercharger please. What make? Where did you get it fitted? That sort of thing. I know there is a whole heap of people on here who would be interested.

Outback bloke

These things are the product of http://www.raptorsc.com.au

Go to this link and pic your model and click on that http://www.raptorsc.com.au/models.php?id=6

All DIY stuff, fit yourself and tunes are preloaded on the piggyback.

12 Month warranty and can have a touch more boost if needed, up to 7psi.

Just the most basic socket and screwdriver set is all you need, nothing hard about it, I reckon most people could knock it over between breakfast and lunch no problem.

I see. It is the make that I thought it was. I have looked in to it a bit before, considered doing it to my own car. It is a toss up between that and a 6. At this stage I think it might be the 6.

Do you notice much more torque "off" the mark"? From the dyno sheet on the link it looks like there isn't a great deal of torque difference until you get to about 4500rpm.

I have a manual so off the mark its pretty agressive and I definitely don't need it any more agressive than it is, the stock clutch is very happy with the current torque increase in the low end. It has a gain for sure but not that much however its about as much as i would like to put through the drive train as i was getting quite a bit of front wheel spin through round abouts etc.

I have a torque figure of around 351Nm at 4200, from memory a B spec Liberty 6 is around 297Nm and I suppose the 6 is heavier by a good bit, how much I don't know.

All in all it does a good job really

Nothing much new of late, adjusting the tune a bit here and there for perfect smoothness.

Also been working on 98 RX 2.0 with very good results too. Same system as on mine, same ECU also
