Howdy from VG_Andy!

Wifey drives an 01 Outback, and i felt i needed a bit of a distraction for a while from my sick obsession with Valiants, so i picked up a 1988 L Series Touring Wagon yesterday. Its pretty stock and hasn't been off roaded as far as i can tell..! I plan to lift it a bit and ditch the 13" wheels for something a bit bigger and then take it off road for some fun. I thought i'd do the right thing and give it a new air filter, plugs, leads, cap etc but half the stuff i asked for over the counter appears to be wrong so i have a bit to learn i suspect, this one is the MPFI model so in hindsite i am thinking maybe they looked up parts for the carb model or maybe EA81 instead of 82..clearly just saying it's an 88 L Series ain't enough - who knows.. lol, its a good way of learning a bit more about the car anyway..!

Anyway thats me for now.. cheers!

Hey guys I'm new! Been reading the forums for a while now but just picked up my first L Series wagon on the weekend so i figured now would be a good time to start posting.

It's an 85 L series and stock as a rock at the moment. It's being used as my daily ride at the moment while my other car has it's engine rebuild, but once that's done i plan on giving the subaru a few parts to make it more capable off road and set it up so i can use it for a bit of camping and 4wding.

So no doubt you guys will see me around asking plenty of questions soon enough,. :)

I am moving to Queensland from Northern Ireland, UK and I'm very glad to have found there is Subaru clubs in Oz also.

I will be bringing across my 04 STi Type UK. I know I could probably buy one when I move over but I am bringing over a container with all my belongings and since I have no finance on the car thought I might as well bring it too.

I have owned the car for 2yrs and have done a few mods which are.

The boost gauge holder has now been made out of Carbon Fibre

Although I have been to Oz quite often I cant rember what the Ron quality of the fuel is.
Is there any recommended Ecutek mappers near surfers or Palm beach so I can get the car mapped on OZ fuel???
Also what is the law reguarding cats? I have all mine removed and was going to fit them back on for the inspection when I bring the car across.
Lastly who deals with Clifford alarms in the same sort of area?
As soon as I come across I will become a full member and get along to lots of meets.

Hi I'm Bronze.

I live in Lake Macquarie (Toronto) and work in Dubbo.

I'm a VW lover and progressed to Subaru as they are also simple and have a boxer engine.

I own a 84 Brumby and my wife has a 98 Forester.

Both cars are daily drivers and the Brumby clocks up over 50,000 k's a year with my travel to and from work (5 hour trip).

I enjoy offroad but have the Brumby set up for efficiency at the moment. Running premium, valve lube, thin 13's, no canopy and lightened. I'm squeezing just under 7 litres per 100k's.

My Brumby has aircon but I rarely use it. Runs very cold.

In the future I would like to do a mild lift, maybe run larger tires and do a repaint. I don't offroad too much as I like to keep it reliable but would like to meet up with other Subaru dudes (and dudettes) in the Lake Macquarie, Hunter, Newcastle region for meets and drives.

I'm a regular to Stockton sand dunes however I don't take the Subarus there. I go in VW beach buggies.

My email is wefarwe AT gmail DOT com if you would like to get in touch.

Regards

Bronze.

G'day everyone, my name is Justin and reside in the Blue mountains. Just bough an 89 Brumby. Not the 1st Brumby I have owned, there has been a few in the past. 1989 Brumby (1997-2001- Brakes Failed and hit a Blue Stone Gutter), 1992 Brumby (2002-2004 - Rust in both chassis railes, can bent like a bannana when driving over speed humps). Heaps of mods on the works. Stay tuned for more!

My names Beau i recently joined as my parents have always had Subaru's since i was young and I learnt to drive in a brumby.

Joined up because i recently bought my own wagon and i'm loving it :-) even though it has an epic ammount of k's (444000 +) it still is reliable and runs well.

Newbie - Ej20 Brumby

Post by AngusF » Mon May 04, 2009 8:34 pm

Hi all,

I'm a long-term Subaru owner but newbie here. I'm based in the UK and midway through fitting an EJ20 to a '94 Brumby (or MV over here) - seems quite popular over there but it's a bit of a rarity here. Also own a '93 Legacy Turbo as well as a second Brumby that's being salvaged for parts.

Plan is to keep the Brumby looking as standard as possible on the outside. Just received a chip from Adrian Vos to lift power to around 240 - 250 bhp. Seemed like a good idea at the time...
