New Subaru

Post by charlie90lserieswagon » Sun Apr 19, 2009 2:59 pm

gday im charlie, im 16 and im keen on subies.

after a long time of looking and hunting for a decent and affordable l series, i found a "90 l series for $1800. it had done 266k, and had a reco motor put in 16k ago due to the previous owner cooking the motor. completely stock when i bought it, but the previous owner installed new cv's, clutch and timing belts. it also had an immobiliser with the little key that goes into a plug, and a sony explode cd player and 2 kenwood speakers in the back.

i have so far spent the same on it, as what i bought it for..... whoops.... new tyres and sunnies ($1150), general service and tune ($230), flare kit ($170), bullbar ($200) and bits and pieces to fix the rust spots ($150+). planning on lifting it in the next 6 months, but have to save as i have spent all my funds already :D

any recommendations on cheap mods for the future... i dont have the time or tools etc for an engine conversion, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

charlie

Welcome to the forum, Charlie.

Sounds like you've got all the basics sorted. I'd only suggest keeping an eye out for a set of early Liberty front seats. They fit pretty easily, and are a huge improvement over the (usually well-worn) originals.

Dane.

doesn't matter where you go, just call a fair few places to make sure you don't get ripped off. i find exhaust plus is a good mob and don't charge to much there is a couple stores all over the place.

and ive gathered from other threads that modding a ea82 isnt worth it, and ur better off doing a conversion... so i think the exhaust, maybe seats, spare wheel carrier, lift kit, new springs and shocks (depends on how far gone they are), and spotlights is my shortlist of near future mods... what do u reckon??
