L series 2" lift install

Post by chrisk » Mon Jan 04, 2010 1:00 pm

Hi :)
Can anyone confirm for me that the steering shaft in a power steer 1993 L series does NOT require any welding or other components when fitting a 2inch lift kit to this vehicle?
I have a AUSUBARU kit to go in, but do not want to end up with a lifted car that's stuck in the garage because I can't steer it, as it is my daily.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if anyone has any tips/ what to look out for type advice that woudl be good too.
Ta :)

i installed a 3" lift into a power steering equiped car (86 L) and it needed a extended steering shaft (mine was included). if the crossmember is moved down something needs to bridge the gap it creates.

so i guess you would need to make one, if there isn't one with your kit.

You need a new steering extension. 100% certain on that. If it is a new kit get in touch with Dave and let him know it is missing.

Can't help mate, but good idea double checking before putting your kit in!
I currently have half a kit installed, car is on a mates hoist and I need to make urgent contact with SWK. It sucks. :(

you don't need to weld anything but you do need a steering extension which should be in the kit

I bought a steering knuckle from the wreckers and made a longer one out of the 2

I can explain with pictures if needed ( I will have to take them)

I did read that Guyph used a liberty steering knuckle

Was that an AuSubaru kit that you purchased or a different one?

Has anyone who has been reading this post got a contact number for Subywan?
I have been trying unsuccessfully to contact him about the part and not getting much in the way of response in emails and the like.
