Yeah but the problem is that we cant get the converter to slide all the way onto the shaft.
Is there a trick to align the shafts?

not really..it should just spin round till it splines and slides on.........there are different convertors....you mite have the wrong one for the box if it just wont go on no matter what you do???try turning it as you put it on the shaft..it has a certan way to go on and you,ll findd it by pushing as you turn it and it should drop into place once in the right spot

Okay, a whole month down the track and we're ready to drive the lib out of the shed. lol
After alot of heartache/misallignment issues/cursing, we hav the engine and gearbox in and bolted up. Connected everything up this arv and decided to giv it a try. For an engine that hasn't been fired for 4 months or so, it started almost instantly. We couldn't take it for a test drive today but we tried reverse and drive gears and all seems well.
Also i've come across an L with a 2" liftkit, much sterdier bullbar and bigger wheel/tyre combo so i've bought that with intentions of transplanting it all into mine. When i pick the car up i will take a few photos of it before we part it out. Fingers crossed for thr test drive tomorrow with the lib! Cheers

Hey if you are selling your old bullbar, the guy who bought mine L series is looking for one.
I'll give a rundown of what happened to the gearbox.
We found out why the TC wouldnt slide on,.. the input shaft wasnt all the way in. So we rotated it and slid it in and put the TC on. Yay it fits.
Took the gearbox back up to the garage where the car was, attached it to the engine and as we were doing up the bellhousing bolts, we heard a crunch. So we pulled it back off and discovered that the TC had slid forward and rotated so as we did the bolts up, it smashed the oil pump.
Apart come the gearbox again.
Took the oil pump out of the old gearbox, swapped them over and as we were finishing, noticed a thrust bearing lying on our workbench (actually a CHEP pallet)\
A quick flick through the FSM revealed that it went between the oil pump and the reverse clutch. DAMN!!!
Apart come the gearbox AGAIN !!!
Put the thrust bearing in and it has been happy sailing since.

Okay, just dropped lib off to old mate and hes over the moon. Very happy with the buy
and i was very happy with how it ran on the way, aircon was icey cold, transmission worked smoothly, very quiet and very comfortable. A little disappointed i'm sticking with the L now
haha anyway i may be picking up the lifted wagon this weekend sometime so as soon as i get it i shall post up photos. It looks pretty decked out so i'm crossing my fingers that there is an lsd tucked up under there somewhere.
Pics soon, Cheers

Just went and had a look at the L and i bring it home tomorrow.
The bloke who owned it says it has bilstein gas struts as well. does anyone have any info on these? Checked the diff to see if it was an lsd but someone has painted over the sticker. It has a pretty mean looking paintjob as well, pics tomorrow
