Day Trip Sun 21/3

Post by Richie-Rich » Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:22 pm

Keen to get the Foz off-road.

Was thinking about heading up the beach and bush near Guilderton.

Have no idea where to go so company would be cool.

Rich

PS wife and 9week old will be in car so nothing overly stupid!

Dave (aka D3V1L) will be down at Whitehills so I think we'll head down to there ;)

Would still like to know about Pippididdy Rd for another trip :)

Pippidini is an illegal offroading area (cause it's private property and you can't really get owner's permission to drive on it). It's a huge white sand dune area similar to Lanno but more concentrated, less huge open areas, more vegetation too. There are rangers going around there usually issuing fines. It was a great place to go back in the day but I beleive it's too risky these days.
Probably still popular tho!
Go up wanaroo road about halfway to Lanno (not even halfway I think) and turn left at Pippidini road. Follow it to the end and you can enter the dunes. You can follow them north and south and make it down to the beach too. If you go south you will eventually get to the Romeo Road area.
Not sure if you know Romeo Road. It's another similar entrance to the same place. It's another left turn off Wanaroo road even closer than Pippidini. Same deal though - signs all over the place saying no offroading.

I cut my teeth offroading at Pipidini. Was there every weekend for like 10 weekends when I got my first L series wagon. That POS rusty carby'ed 1985 touring wagon got me right the way through all over the area. Unlifted, unmodified, virtually farked engine and on 13s - the best way to learn I rekon! :)

Went up to Wilbinga Rd today.

Very fun, some nice steep climbs and descents. I'm actually surprised at what the Subi is capable of!

Ok peoples.. We got Toonga's engine back in yesterday :) Long story with lots of issues but the short story is that we didn't finish until 1:30am this morning. We are still planning on going to Whitehills and find Dave (D3V1L) and see if he's catching those monster tailor.

Is anyone else planning on going down?
