RSR Brat Project

Post by RSR 555 » Fri May 21, 2010 9:20 am

Hi all.. I thought I'd start a new thread as I'd like to show people what is going to happen to my new little ute. Plans are to fit a factory EFI EA81 Turbo engine. It's not any major swap as it's all factory but it will be something different :) I'm also thinking of fitted the 5spd D/R gearbox and maybe a LSD diff. The car will also be repainted (same colour) and will have the company signage

Today is D'Day at the license centre so please wish me luck :)

Here's a picture of when I first brought her..

I guess it is right to call it a BRAT as it gets BRAT power plant NOT available to the Australian Brumby market. Will we ever forgive the marketers for that ?!

Yeah.. Thanks Dave :p but all cool.. Thanks to everyone :)

She went over the pits at 8:30 this morning and they passed her with flying colours, I was a little worried that the steering wasn't upto scratch (small bit of play in it) but I'm going to change that out when the turbo engine goes in

Well.. just filled up the little beast after a fun weekend of beach driving and chasing fish down south.. I managed to get 576kms out of the full tank and it worked out to be 9.93km/ltr of fuel.. is this average for these EA81? I was quiet pleased with it but would like to know what others get :)

That sounds about right. You should see 7 or 8 on the highway if you're careful but conversely they'll use a bit more with taller tyres offroad.

Oh.. ok Stuart :) Well most of this was on the highway but the little car has 14" rims. The other thing is the auto choke doesn't work so I'm thinking it may be time for a carby rebuild?
