Does this look a bit to "try hard"?

G'day all, i woke up this morning with the intentions of fixing up my L series a little bit. I was mucking around and i looked at my old bullbar with the Narva spotties on it, and also spotted the old roof basket i never use. In a 'wankerish' kind of mood i trimmed, drilled and fitted the Narva's to the front of the basket and chucked it on. At the time i thought to myself "yep that looks pretty tough" and then I thought what a top place to keep my spare!

So i conjured up a bit of a setup and i was just wondering what you blokes reckon. Is it a bit over the top?

Need another 4 lights up top and 2 massive antennas and a R.M. Williams sticker on the back and you're all set for the Outback

Yeah looks pretty good but I'd just watch out for cops, I don't think it's technically legal to have any forward facing lights anywhere higher than the factory headlights on a car.

Just throw some covers on those lights and Mr Plod won't hassle you.
Wonder how hard it would be to add some steering-activated ones facing left and right, for night-time in the scrub....and a few facing back, for when you reverse....

haha thanks for all the replies! I was a little worried that it was a bit redneck but i have definately warmed up to it now.

My other concern was that flimsy piece of plastic trim that supports the roofracks, how that would handle a sharp turn at speed with a rim+tyre on the roof but it seems to be okay. I was going to sell it a couple of weeks ago but i seem to have found that soft spot for it that i had for it when i was on my L's (that sort of... man and L series bond that i know alot of you have experienced.) haha.

Looks awesome! A classic AU example that has influenced what im doing to my own wagon here in the states.

im with andrew, i think the correct term is higher then the windscreen center line, im planning on doing the same sort of set up at one stage but ill have the lights on a rotating, solenoid actuated beam.
normal driving the lights are down flat (legal) off road or basically with the lights on there pointing where i want them
