Blind spots from the A pillar

It only recently dawned on me how A, B and C pillars of cars are assigned and of course, wiki confirms it, for those not in the know, a link.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE FN BLINDSPOTS *- another reason why I love me Brumby

My work car has a rotten effin blindpsot that you can near hide a 42 seat bus behind, and everything smaller behnd the drivers side A pillar. You could not pay me enough to have my name on the rego papers, even if it was the TURBO model or biggest posing FPV , GT and other models I lose track of versions either.

Any guesses as to what name apears on the car?

when factories started building cars with better rollover protection or stronger cabins, they built fatter a pillars, as windscreens laid back further, and got longer they need fatter a pillars to support them. all goes to saying that a pillars are far worse than they were a few years ago, you just have to wag the head around to get a good look at what is coming to get you, esp motorbikes

Do you get the latest Fiat / Citroen / Peugeot 3500kgs vans out there?
My merc was off the road a couple months back:( so I had to hire one of these (Fiat mulijet 120 Ducato panel van).....Jesus the blind spot at the A pillar was atrocious I mean darn well dangerous.....I was relieved to be able to hand it back to the hire company still in one piece.

Fiat trucks have made an apearance in recent years, not sure of their capacities.

I tell you the roll over protection needs to be their for the given blind spots

Agree that the A pillar is there for strenght - but these things have a driving position and general vision which is poor as the way the dash meets up to the bottom of the pillar which is also made thicker by the size of the door itself. = over big blind spot.
These things are used extensivley as platforms for motorhomes so commonly the drivers are shall we say not regular drivers of LCV's of this type /size. The Peugeot and Citroen versions are virtually identical (except the engines) made in shared production plant.
The Transit, Merc and Iveco dont suffer this problem.

Yeah, we got Merc Vito, Sprinter, Iveco too. Hate to see that red van in a strong wind or is full of lead to kep it stable?
