I'd go the EA81 build... There's a reason why they're used in ultralights and EA82 arn't...

Plus there's less places for oil to leak out of the EA81 in comparison to the EA82!

however they were pretty good about it, basically i can have the EJ18 (if i could find one and afford it) but it needs to have all the eco gear, as well as the car being set up to stop better adn some crap

so basically i need to put full disk brakes on and limit the engine so it produces less hp that the EA82
Also needs a 'closed room emission test'. This allows you essentially to re-qualify the car under ADRs.

Starts at $4K...

My L was an 85 touring wagon and it went a lot better than any 81 ive driven. I dunno what they did to the unleaded ones but my "proper" petrol one was a ripper :D Ran like crap on ULP but as long as you put fuel with decent octane in it it went bloody well, flogged it mercilessly all through uni, ahh the memories. That said an early lib would crap all over it, that's what id get :)

I'm pretty sure that the 85 touring wagon was a 3.9 ratio diff, where as every EA81 I've seen is a 3.7 ratio - this will change the performance of the engine.
And the fuel thing - the ULP dropped the octane rating compared to the good old lead containing "super" fuel...

If your car you are modding was produced before 1968 ......adr,s become near redundant.... food for thought guys...

Has nothing to do with build date, emission ADRs are engine specific.

Put a late engine in an early car and the late engine ADRs apply.

And you can't go the other way, for a registered street car.

Gary ;)
