You'll be right! It comes down to a couple of wires - power, back up power (i spliced this into power), Ignition, starter relay, fuel pump wire, oil and alt (stock wires used, look in the EJ into L thread about wiring in the alternator if needed). I've got some others left over that I'll need to know what to do with when I sort out my AC.

What did you make the wedges out of? They look very neat! And how much thread do you have remaining on the stud for the engine mount?

Gleno - Awesome effort! Doing your own wiring for the first time with some guidance is THE best way to know your subi, especially now that its been modified with the engine conversion.

The best feeling is when it fires up for the first time! Just make sure, double check, that you've got ALL vacuum/air intake hoses connected. I stuffed my first fire up due to one of the pipes not being connected - fired but wouldn't idle...

Best of luck with it all and keep up the good work!

Cheers

Gleno - if you work out how to wire in the AC on your EJ conversion please, please draw up a wiring diagram of how you did it - I'm stuck as to how to go about it and at the moment really don't have the time to sit down and nut it all out properly, too much maintenance stuff going on at the moment :(

Cheers

Hey Bennie.. the wedges are made from a piece of 16mm Aluminium and thread isn't long enough with the facory mounts but perfect with the aftermarket mounts.

Here's a pic of the spacers

Have you put a header pipe on yet? I ask because my first attempt at engine mount spacers looked similar to yours, and they lifted the engine too far and the exhaust touched the engine crossmember. Ended up having to make some thinner wedges.

Otherwise very nice work.

Hey Dane.. with your advice in hand, we finished working on Glen's trailer (another story and won't go into it) and tried the front headers.. they fitted like a glove and didn't come close at all? Here's some pics..

Todays update was looking for thin enough fans to keep the EJ cool. Now with the modified fans in place and most of the other stuff hooked up.. it's back to finish off the wiring loom. Just 3 things left now.. 1. bottom rad hose.. 2. accelerator cable and 3. the wiring loom

What fans did you end up using?

Just wondering also, how did you adapt the radiator top and bottom hoses from the smaller diameter pipes on the L series radiator up to the larger diameter pipes on the engine?

looking good those fans look like the after market ones from a brumby or L series with aircon

won't the cable from the doner sedan fit with a little modifying?

One fan was originally Glen's fan (I think it was for the a/c but it's not genuine and the other is one we brought from a wreckers for $50

Cool, so how did you adapt the different diameter radiator top/bottom hose outlets from the smaller size on the L series radiator to the larger size on the EJ engine?

The longest time was spent trying to work out the way the L.Series wire up thier fuel pump.. what a weird arse setup :???:
