what have you done for your subaru lately?
Storage
I made Scamp a storage compartment to keep all that stuff which mysteriously gravitates into hiding behind the seats.

We've been doing heaps to the WRX over the past week, well mostly seagull, I'm just his useless lacky, so here's the list.
1/ Changed the bolts on the wheel carrier so the spare sits a bit further from the rear spoiler
2/ Put a 1" lift kit in the front to take the strain off the front axles. the boots lasted less than 3,000kl from new.
3/ Re-mounted the roo bar so it's 10 times more secure and has a nice strong RHS protecting the rad support.
4/ Mounted a recovery point to the RHS which goes back to the front X member
5/ Fitted a tow bar.
6/ Totally changed the induction system, pretty much put it back to stock with a 2.5" or 3" SS snorkel coming soon.
7/ Fitted a 3" TBE system back to the diff then the stock twin tip muffler at the rear.
8/ Put an alloy bash plate on the rear diff.
9/ Measured up the front bash plate which will be fitted after some laser cutting.
10/ Extended the steering knuckle.
11/ The piece de-resistance, Neil re-built the box (92 Liberty hi/lo 3.9) I bought a new Helical front LSD from the states landed for $480, also fitted 4.44 crown wheel & pinion, the box was in excellent condition when split, filled it with Redline Smurf blood.
12/ Ripped the old rear diff out and changed the cw & p to 4.44.
13/ Got rid of the TD05 which came on boost pretty late and dropped a Legacy RS VF8 which will hopefully bring the power on a bit quicker.
14/ Cut the bottom off the front bumper for a bit better ground clearance.
15/ Fitted a 3,000lb MY09 WRX clutch, we still have to work out the point to put the hydraulics so the fork works like a cable set up (cable would be too weak & unreliable)
16/ Modded the center console for the extra stick.
So just a couple of small things left to do and it should be back on the road in a couple of days, it'll be interesting to see how far out the speedo will be with the weird gearing set up but it should be pretty good in the sand with the front LSD & rear viscous.

I hope you shoved the L's 1.59:1 low range in while the box was split! Would be a sweet setup if you did... The crown wheel needs to be shaved to do this. I've got a 4.11 ring gear that will be getting the same treatment soon - will probably take me another year to get that gearbox sorted and fitted!d_generate wrote:We've been doing heaps to the WRX over the past week, well mostly seagull, I'm just his useless lacky, so here's the list.

I had to rescue my xt6 saturday, broke down friday eve on my commute home, about 80 miles from home. The serpentine pulley and alternator shaft ate each other up and spit off the belt. real strange, no warning like noise, vibrations or charge issues. There was no parts availability within 100 miles so i had a parts store order in the alt, picked it up saturday evening. A rebuilt alternator and a new belt installed and its on the road again:)

@ d_generate: NICE! Pics?
Today I fixed my intake. When I put my bull bar on the resonator stuck out like an extra thumb so I just pulled it off and let air get sucked straight into the airbox. I bought some PVC pipe with the intention of making an adaptor into the engine bay but never got around to it, and now 2 months on I finally had time to look at it.
Instead of making some PVC with not-quite-right diameters, I just cut the bottom of the resonator off. I then cut out a panel from the discarded box, traced the two shapes needed to block the 'in' and 'out' of the box, and cut them out with an angle grinder (works so much better on plastic than a jigsaw does!). I then plastic welded the two panels onto the original inlet-outlet peice and walla! Now it feeds into the engine bay like it did in the stock set up and you can't see the 'resonator' anymore. I'd take a photo but don't have a camera at hand.
Best of all, no more humming! yay!
Cheers,
Owen.

I swapped out the rear subframe in my xt6. I tried to have it aligned and it has negative toe and camber issues that couldnt be corrected. Im currently running studded tires and when I hit ice at speed the car was doing crazy things, so hopefully the donor subframe is in better shape. Couldnt really tell if something is bent but the bushings appear to be pretty bad off. Well see, it goes back in to the alignment shop next week.
Cheers, Mark

2 x Cool Sound Systems in my waggon !
Ok - so I had it done a few weeks ago, but I got the chance to picture my Blaupunkt 'Woodstock' dab (Digital audio broadcasting) CD / Radio which is now in my MVBRUMBYBRAT. (Scooby) Also the cool looking Aerial now on his cab roof.
Must say I was of 2 minds whether or not to drill the roof ! But I am real glad I did because the roof mount digital aerial is real sporty looking.
There is also a glass mount aerial in the cab for the FM/MW/LW radio bands.
The guys who did this for me managed to find some high output speakers that just fitted behind the original subaru speaker covers - result ! So we have not had to cut or alter the doors - the sound is crystal clear & totally FAB !
Oh and yes thats snow in one of the pic's - a bit early this year & -8 deg overnight -2 deg during today bbbrrrrr!
So now I can choose between the sporty flat 4 wobble or Planet Rock on the radio !:D
http://www.planetrock.com check it out on the web 24/7 classic & Modern Rock !

It's actually quite flexible! I can also unscrew the long part very easily!
We don't really get "bush" terrain here like you guys do - so shouldn't be too much of a problem:D

One the way down to Lakes Entrance I prayed to the subi gods to be nice to Ruby Scoo who's got 4 bearings that don't sound very healthy. She also needs the bearings in the alternator attended to as they're making a lovely noise too. The starter motor also makes some "interesting" noises sometimes when starting...
The "joys" of sinking your subi I guess. Kids: Its really not worth it, no matter how "awesome" the pic looks after you get out of it without a dead engine!
Cheers

I finally removed and replaced the bent power steering pump pulley that made the fan belt move from side to side .
I have enough bits to do the Vortex poly V belt conversion but don't know if I can be stuffed .
I'm probably better off selling that pulley set and the two alternators and front timing pointer I have ... Oh , and the bracket with the idler for those poor people that run power steering and AC on their Vortex XT4's .
After relocating my garage and throwing lots of junk my Subaru parts collection has shrunk markedly .
God knows why but I couldn't throw away a perfectly good EA82T oil pump or the set of rods and pistons . Or the turbo heads and cam boxes . Or the last spider manifold and throttlebody . Or the two std turbos or the two good headers .
This belongs in the for sale section but too tired ATM .
Back in the afternoon , A .
