H6 rattle on startup

G'day Guys and Gals
I've got a '08 Liberty H6 Spec B and the motor makes a dreadful rattle for about .5 of a second on colder startups. Subaru claim it is a tensioner (which has been replaced) and there is nothing they can do about it. Does anyone know about this or heard it before?

Is the oil on the full mark! Myne does this when it is low.

It always has a huge rattle after an oil change till the oil pressure is up!

They are probably right as the tensioner is probable leaking a little and takes slightly longer to build up oil pressure.

As far as I know it should not cause any problems as the timing chain is just loose until the oil pressure has come up.

if < 1 second why worry about it like Subaru said?

does the oil filter have a drain back valve fitted to it ( ie ) is it a cheap and nasty unit ?
