you can pay me 10 grand to do it =)
that straight enough for you?
its impossible to give you a straight up figure, if i did it and took 12 months finding the bits i wanted i could do it for under a grand but thats doing the work myself and scrounging for bits

you really need to think this out - you want EJ20 turbo (to impress mates or pull a chick or two) you gonna need the box that goes with it so it will cope, the turbo boxes are not dual range , have different CV shaft splines, long term project or got the readies to pay someone. I knew someone who EJ20G'd his Brumby and spent $20k ten years ago sorting al sorts of things out, was never engineered either. Ended up with just EJ20 in it and was happy with its driveabilty, legal travel times, just quick to the speed limit and pulled well up hills

Not likely, difference in length is certain, splines maybe, these are something that get made up for 3 or 4 hundred bucks. Radiators are another thing to play with customise stuff, as to getting fans in, find skinny fans
Have a read of El Freddo write up and others on EJ conversions to get a better understanding of what goes on. I thought EJ had clearance issues of bonnet underside at standard height. Then there is engineering, insurance issues.....

If you run an AWD box in RWD you need a kit which changes the box from AWD to RWD, and a diff thats going to take the punishment better than the standard brumby diff.
or you can do something like this
http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showthrea ... adid=27532
or this is the kit ( one type anyway)
http://eng.kaps-transmissions.com/news- ... -1057.html
have a good think about all your options before you go making a drifter
as for the tailshaft you will need either a custom 2 piece or a custom single length.

My personal opinion would be buy one that has been already done.
Other then that i would do other things first eg
Get better brakes and handling sorted before getting more power.
Invest in at least rear disk brake system ultimate would be a crossbred kit
Use L series front control arms for camber and adjustable length stay arms from a falcon.
As a rear wheel drive only these are a big hand full with the wrx motor as they are very short and twitchy and want to swap ends very quickly also the Steering ratio is nowhere fast enough to catch again before looping it out.
You may have a turbocharged whatever but brumbies are light in the arse end silvas are fairly well balanced in comparison
Also Try the search function in this Forum it has been done many times before.
My opinion may not count for much to you but i would be using awd with a tarmac ratio centre diff split ratio in the realms of 20/80 or 10/90 not cheap but so much more controllable then rwd and not so harsh on the tranfer gears in the subaru gear box when using rwd.

Green_eyed_liberty wrote:17 yrs old? your not allowed to change your engine while on your P's
In reference to the bold: As Green eyed liberty has said you're 17 and can't change your engine - no note of a turbo. Yes you may have been driving a silvia - wether this is legal or not is another issue. What I'm getting at is the silvia comes STOCK with a turbo, the brumby NEVER did in Australia, certainly not with a 2 litre turbo.subarubrumby wrote:yeah hardluck, seriously man ive been driven a turboed silvia for the last 6 months and no problem, and my brumby will be a sleeper![]()
so will the box to suit the ej20 match the tailshaft ??
As for wanting to rear wheel drive it, in my opinion this is a waste of a potentially HSV/FPV smoking brumby. If I were you - and I remember when I was 18 with my '71 torana wishing it had a V8 or XU1 spec drivetrain - I'd wait till you've got some more driving experience under the belt before you go for the top line "off the shelf" WRX conversion. I say off the shelf as all parts are factory subaru before you start beefing up turbos for better performance. At the very least putt-putt around in the stock brumby before you start modifying it - this way you'll see the improvements in the performance and changes in your subaru that would hopefully make you appreciate it more and more to the point already know the limits of the braking system/handling in general before you upgrade to a force induced engine.
Hope you seriously consider the above including what other members have said - if you're dead keen on it try picking up a unit that's already been modified unless you want to go through the trials and heart aches of building your own. Most of all, keep it AWD as this may just look after you for the long run.
Cheers
Bennie
