Attention if lifting Gen 4 Outback more than 1"

Post by Barry1956 » Tue Jan 11, 2011 4:07 pm

Apparently the 'solution' for the Gen 4 front camber is to fit Gen 3 top perches and Gen 3 model springs (inc. Gen 3 Kingsprings). See this response to my query on subaruoutback.org (Gotta love the net!) http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/81- ... post299774
Can then fit Whiteline Gen 3 adjustable top mounts, which will solve the front camber issue.

Looks like I will have a set of 2nd hand Gen 4 King Springs for sale. They work fine on their own, just not with the additional 1" strut lift.

Am told that this mob might make adjustable strut tops that would fit my Gen4. http://www.wilkinsonsuspension.com.au They are in W.A. Anyone know anything about them?

Had an e-mail from them on the Monday, which I thought was impressive. :)
Unfortunately, they don't make an adjustable strut top for my model. :(

hi there, i've been following the threads on the gen 4 outbacks. i have an 04 outback, looking to put some 215/70/16 bfg at's under it. just a bit worried about engineers certs and insurance etc. have you all been getting certs for the larger tyres? i think it's a 44mm increase in rolling diameter, and the allowable is 15mm? it sounds like it's hard to get an engineer to sign off on anything like that.

cheers, charlie

In answer to your question, a 15mm tyre diameter increase is the maximum you can do legally. No engineer will sign off on a tyre diameter increase beyond this, not in Queensland anyway. I've attached a recent photo from Fraser Island to whet your appetite. Image
