Maybe it's photobucket or the resolution on you display? I'm guessing the first is the major cause but if you would like the original scans (which are very clear) just PM me

You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

Thanks for the real print version Paul. Bit unfair to compare a Falcadore to an old RS Lib. for pace. Think the thieving O2 bandits cannot drive either so they need they AWD to assist the getaway. You'd think the author would have realised the frameless doors were a carry over from the 70's not brave new design trend for the Lib

Errr...what? Aren't all Falcodores V6 or V8's? That seems like a pretty good reason why they can outsprint a 4 cyl wagon, even if it is a turbo! And you would have to wonder why. While quick in it's day, your average Falcodore will out sprint a stock-ish RS turbo, every time.

Will it ever end!?

And as for numbers, from the RSLC thread on the topic:
Sent an email off to Subaru Australia and this is what I got back.....
"I was forwarded your email enquiry about some details for your RS Turbo wagon. I'd be more than happy to provide you with the info that i could find.
Firstly, in regards to how many RS turbo wagons were sold in Australia. From what i can gather, your model - BF5DU8D (Japanese model code) was the only wagon variant of the RS Turbo that was offered in Australia, and i can see that we sold 219 of that particular model (however, this won't include any private imports from other countries).
As far as colours go, the split for the 219 RS turbo wagons is as follows:
Carmine Mica - 57 cars
Medium Grey - 32 cars
Dark Grey - 47 cars
White - 83 cars
Finally, regarding the options on your particular car; unfortunately there seems to have been very little detail kept about the inclusions on cars back then, so all i can tell you is that your car had ABS brakes, metallic paint and air conditioning, and that's literally the extent of the information that the car itself holds in our system. If you require further info, your best bet would be to request it from our customer relations team on 1800 22 66 43 who will direct it to the relevant technical advisors.
Hopefully this information helps you out in the meantime.
And Happy Australia Day for tomorrow!
Best regards,
Toby

Muchas gracias Paul for the PDF
The author is pretty harsh though...timing belts are a feature of modern engines as opposed the 1950s technologies that Ford and Holden kept using.
And as for pace, (without getting all boy-racer like) my stock RS easily chops the cars he compares them to from the same era, so maybe just an angry motor writer!
There some acknowledgment though that this was the platform (well, the RX was...) for the WRC domination which provides some balance
