Lambo Doors - Your Opinions Please

Post by Corax » Wed Feb 09, 2011 12:51 am

Hi All,

Now I have a Brumby project that I am very slooowly working on which has got the usual lowered/turbo setup and I had a mate come over the other day to have a look and after having said look made the following statement. "You know what would make this look s**t hot? A lambo door kit. Those 2 great stonkin doors (his words) reachin for the sky would look awesome!" (also his words).
Now being the sensible fellow that I am I told him to bugger off and stop being stupid but unfortunatly the thought has stayed with me and I have begun to wonder if it would actually look pretty cool. Lets face it, it sure would be different!
Now your thoughts/opinions please. Would this look good or s**thouse, would it even be possible given the weight of a Brumby's door, and can anyone think of any other models where the lambo door setup would work? (vortex's spring to mind). I have seen the kits on flea bay and they range in price from $500-1000 depending on if they are manual or servo operated.

Come on guys, either get this thought out of my head or convince it to stay!

Cheers,
Corax.

OH PLEASE!!!!!!!!! so 2005 just poke your friends eyes out with a large stick then beat him with it, how dare you even contemplate doing that to a Subaru.

Here, join Barryboys, plenty of cocks with Lambo doors on there being laughed at.

It is 2005 isn't it? The theme, not the year now. But shoot your mate is right, who would expect a 70's shape ricer ute to have the gull wing doors?! Seen some very impressive kits in the box and as were installed and great end result.

Ok Dave I've picked myself up off the floor, I've been laughing for nearly 24 hours straight to the point that if I don't stop soon my bowel is going to prolapse.

I will personally come over and slap you if you even consider buying that kit.

Always wanted them on a vortex. It would suit it. No doubt

Not a big fan of these doors but might be OK on a Brumby.
Why don't you buy the kit and use it as a starting point and do the Koeniggseg way of door opening ? Now that is a cool door :-)

A Brumby with gullwing or helix doors would be the sort of thing I would go to see at a car show, just to see what it would look like, but there's no way I would ever want them on mine.

vortex would be nice, SVX would be aesome (if you get rid of the crappy 2 peice windows)

I dont think sizzor doors would be good but gull wing doors?? they already have the targa roof anyway

Ive seen half doors on usmb they were pretty cool

Take a targa top brumby, remove the sun roofs and fit a full gull wing door, hinged from the centre of the roof.

Thank you all for your comments, haven't laughed so hard in ages. Julian, I knew I could rely on you to wade in and I will think you will want to slap me the next time you hear the forester anyway, in fact Im suprised you havent heard it from your place.
Venom/Spike yeah gull wing doors would look cool but geeze it would take some work! No way I could do that.
Alex, oh kind and benevolent moderator, just wondering if you could please extrapolate on the 'only in Bunbury' comment? If there is something wrong with where I live I would like to know (overpopulated with Brumbies with gull wing doors perhaps?).
Anyway, thanks all and you will be pleased to know that the idea has been removed from by brain, taken out into the backyard and shot.

Cheers,
Corax.

i would of said gull wing doors are easier than lambo?
just reinforce the roof around a targo top and then cut the rest out?
