Abandoned Commydore

Post by Busdriver » Thu Feb 10, 2011 2:12 pm

So I stop at the lights, L/H lane of 3, and I am behind a VN. The lights turn green and nothing happens. I use the horn and still nothing happens. I use the horn again and wait for them to get the old girl going or get out and start pushing.
Can see the pass. seat is empty, cant see the drivers seat due to the sun glare coming off the back window. I back up and go around to see that the car is empty! No indicators or hazard lights, just abandoned at pole position at the lights. What sort of idiot just gets out at the lights and walks away from a car without even leaving the hazard lights on?
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Busdriver, 91 L Enduro Wagon, stock ,for now.
Lots of Ks,A/C, MP3 sometimes(if its not dark) singing steering wheel cover which I listen too when its dark.

Whaddaya mean sadly? the less commodores on the road the better IMO, or were you referring to the guy who died in the crash? that was the sad part :(
The newer ones aren't so bad but the VN's and older ones are just plain dangerous, all the ones I've seen anyway...which is alot since they're absolutely everywhere :???:
Sorry for the rant but I have a special hatred reserved just for commodore's and their drivers

At least you were on your game! I unfortunately had the experience of being pushed over the westgate bridge after running out of fuel - I didn't think about the incline of the bridge and gravity moving the remaining fuel to the back of the tank where the fuel pump couldn't get it.
Hazard lights on, moved over to the very far left - no emergency lane - got on the phone to the RACV who were about to call vicroads to organise a truck to push us over the bridge, but they were already on to it. The point is that while we had our hazard lights on we were almost the cause of several accidents that would have seen us rear-ended, and it wasn't as if we were on a blind corner, there was plenty of lane behind us to work out what was going on, and there was also the option of using the brakes for the driver approaching us from behind...

Yeah half of the commodores are only good for wrecks, but the other half I've seen have been done up really well. Not that I'm a hot commodore fan but there are some neat units out there. Plus my wife has an original VT that I'm not to play with - but I did manage to fit a tow bar last week for purposes I doubt Kez will need it for...

This also reminds me of people driving in the snow - like the indian guy with a tarago full of people doing 20km/h in the snow, fair enough, but there was no place that he allowed the following convoy to pass safely. Once down past the ticket gates he stopped, in the middle of the road and got his young kid to yell something at us. Long story short he almost got T boned trying to duck across the road to get his chains removed, which he'd been driving on dry road for the last 5kms on. Not fun!

Cheers

cant remmebr what gearbox he was using but he had some issues with keeping it cool

you see it all the time down near salisbury, elizabeth, davoren park in SA (kind of like punch bowl) a lot of the time (not all) its stolen or abandoned/set up as a trap. when you stop and get out to check the other car you get jummped.

To a family freindly subaru and women orientadted forum =)

The V6 just fit, no radiator, aircon or power steering. 2 small radiators around the outside of the engine bay was all it had. No pics unfortunatly but id love to find it again.
