Removing L series side mouldings?
Removing L series side mouldings?
Hello,
I'm new here having just picked up a 93 L series sports wagon. I'm missing some of the side mouldings and have found some at a wreckers on a car, but....... how the hell do you get them off? (without wrecking them of course).
I have looked at 5 cars at wreckers and can only find the one set so I have to get them off carefully, clips and all if possible.
Thanks,
Ben

What you want to do is get inside the guards/doors/rear panels that these side moulding strips are located. There should be a plastic clip that can be removed by using a pair of pliers and squeezing the clips and pushing them out from behind the guard/doors/rear panels...
They might be brittle and need replacing anyway. Subaru would probably still stock them, only one way to find out
Cheers

Thanks for the fast response guys. (might still make it to the wreckers this arvo!)
Mr Top Hat, I'm reffereing to the exterior rubber strip that runs down the entire side of car. I have formerly have only had nissan's and they are usually just attached with double sided tape.
Thanks Alex I'll go and give it a try on one of the crappy ones on the wreck I'm looking at first. I had already tried prying it off but obvioulsy didn't use enough force!

Got to the wreckers and got it done. Tried prying a rough looking one off. It works but clips perished and also it deformed the hole in the panel slightly (very slightly).
El Freddo/Littlewhiteute you were on the money. Just squeezed the clips form the back and they popped right off clips in tact!
I had to do the rear left (on a sportswagon) so i had to remove the reservoir for the rear window squirter other than that 2min job.
Also did front left piece and just had to remove that plastic inner guard thing inside the wheel arch.
Thanks for the help guys. Wrecker did charge me $20 for both pieces though................
