Super stoked with it as I can now find all my tools and don't have to work on the floor / dodgey table

Storage storage storage and organisation! I used new structural 2x4 to build the bench, 4x4 posts as legs and yellow tongue flooring for the bench. The peg board was painted yellow as the white coating soaked up greasy finger prints, and painting it a darker colour would have made the whole space to gloomy... and the cabinet was made from broken yellow tongue. All up I spent about $275 on new materials + odds and ends.
The shelving unit is made from an old patio table's top which had seen better days and my car's old wooden bed which we hadn't used in ages was used to frame it up - I even recycled the screws from both pieces of furniture! I used left over merbu decking oil to stain the timber and table top to protect against spills. A piece of rubber mat sits on the table for a non slip surface and is great when working on car parts as they can't slip and any oil is easily mopped up. I scored a Dawn 165mm vice off gum tree which I picked up yesterday and is going on today ($30, score!).
The whole unit is free standing, and can be disassembled 'Ikea-style' into flat pack to go with me when I eventually move elsewhere.
Dimensions are 2.75m long, 1.10m deep (80cm work space in front of cabinet/shelf) and 110cm (I think) high.
As there's no power or lights on this side of the garage I've run an extension cord along a rafter and tucked it behind the shelf. It has a 4-port power board which hangs inside the shelf and out of the way of any water/oils/wood chips. I've temporarily put an old lamp on the bench as general lighting until I can sort something better out. I've also rigged up my car work light to hang horizontally to give workspace lighting - this is connected to a spare 12v car battery which I can recharge when needed - and can also be moved anywhere around the garage! It also takes care of my kayaks, which I'd be struggling to find somewhere out of the way to store in the garage.
Super stoked with it and you'll see it in a few pictures that are coming up with a sneaky project I've been sitting on.
Cheers,
Owen.
