1992 L series heater...

so i just picked up a 1992 l series and like it so far, except for the lack of get up and go. it was cold after surfing one day and i tried to get the heater pumping. anyways, the a/c works and blows cold air all good, but it won't put out any heat, even after several minutes on the highest setting. i haven't noticed any leaks in the passenger floor area.

any other suggestions? fuses in the cabin under the dash are ok

G'day,
two possible cause's

1/ the heater tap is seized; get somebody to gently move the switch/lever
whilst you look to see if the tap operates.

2/ the heater core could be blocked; to check this remove the hose's that go to the heater pipe inlet and outlet and apply water via the garden hose to one and then the other if nothing is flowing you can pretty much be assured the heater core is blocked.

Um, these dont have a heater tap, but they do have a history of leaking heater cores. I'm tipping that someone has taken the heater hoses off at the firewall and joined them together so no water flows through the core and therefore no leaks.

Pretty sure the tap your talking is only on 1800 MY and not the L series. but i may be wrong.

What i think is that the core was leaking and it has been by-passed. Check if the heater core hoses is connected to the engine:)

If it is diverted I would look at ordering another one in and install it when you get it.

I got a copper/brass unit (no plastic end tanks) for $220. It hurt initially but I now know I won't be having any heater dramas anytime soon unless a hose under the bonnet goes, touch wood this doesn't happen!

My best guess is that it's your A/C evaporator drain pipe (or lack of it) that is causing the moisture inside the car. Have a look at the passengers foot well and see if you can trace where it's coming from. I'm putting my money on the condensation drain pipe (between the evap box and firewall) is off or missing.

Sorry Paul but Boosh hasn't mentioned moisture in the cab - just that his heater doesn't work...

I'm wondering how the update on this goes.

Opps... my bad

Sorry, I read it wrong. I thought he had water on the floor *administering self slapping now

Now that I have read it correctly, there is the possibility (and most likely) the ones that have already been suggested (heater hoses bypassed in the engine bay) plus there is also the possibility of the hot/cold flap cable on the heater box is not connected.
