Post by RSR 555 » Tue May 03, 2011 12:40 pm

The owner of this beast just dropped it off and asked if I could give it a little tune up :???:

I was thinking it would make an awesome family wagon for you Alex??

Awesome, dual cab ute. Isn't this the sort of situation wheremost mechanics give people the "i don't really want to work on your POS car" price?

Hehehe... Sweet. I think the boys in Gympie need some time with this unit.

There was a sweet as Kombi in ebay a year or so ago with an EJ20G setup, radiator hidden, lowered. Looked the part and was just as quick according to the owner's description. Would have been the bomb for Alex's family - although they'd probably all grow up with neck problems from repeated whip lash!

So, has it a subi donk or not??

Cheers

Why would this be in my workshop???

My theories

1. Is sporting an EJ or one of those dreadful EA kits.

2. Is a job for the Marine & Harbors - removing all fluids for an artificial reef somewhere.

3. The owner is a total hottie who leaned her head over to side, battering her eyelids and said 'Please Paul, tune me up - my timing off and I hate early detonation...'

4. If it does have a flat four, God has sent it to you as punishment for your crimes committed in a past life.

5. You have installed a red shield above workshop door - ie doing charity work now.

6. You have gone stark raving bonkers.

Sven

About 15yrs ago a mate had one powered by a P76 V8, it was lengthened by about 6" at the back but you'd never know unless it was pointed out, as for the crew cab in the workshop we used to have them as work utes when I was in the Port Hedland ore-car workshop for MNM back in 74-76, we'd throw about 6 ore car coupling knuckles above the motor and race between the train tracks seeing who could pull the longest wheel-stands (done by blatting the acc pedal up & down till they lifted) but they were an unburstable car when you consider the idiots driving them.

Thanks Dann.. I did and didn't at the same time :???:

hahaha.. Kinda like that Rhys.. and he was will to spend it :)

Yeah Jonno.. you spotted it nicely.. exhaust is custom and yes Subaru aided

Yes Tristan (as you already spied today) it's a Subaru EA81 Twin Carbied Kombi Dualcab. Lots of fun here :???:

C'mon Alex.. you know it's pimpin'

Yeah Jules.. the owner said you could have it but would need to hand over lots of very large dollar notes :(

Yeah Bennie.. Subie powered but due to a very flogged out dizzy it was running a little sad :(

Yeah Andy.. already converted and looks like not a bad conversion.. bit of cleaning up required but all in all it's not bad.

Bwahahahahahaha.. yeah Sven, I think all of you points are true.. definately #6 but sorry I'll leave #7 to someone in the UK :p

Yeah Dave.. I think he wished it was EJ'd. I did do a late model EJ20 Quadcam NA engine into a Caravelle about 7 years ago.. turned out nice but not my cup of tea.

Tom.. that is nuts :-D You'd need wheelie bars

There is a guy up the road that had a VW wagon with a V6 superchaged Commodore engine it.

Kinda always wanted to have a drive in it, but im glad i was never a passenger, he drove like a bat out of hell

Gees, I was right! Second guess was going to be similar to anothers choice but with more detail, like Dutch or German national, female, name if Ingrid -stranded and travelling on her own, bought it and just driven it to your shop - with some issues :)

I know it wasn't Cintia the Coation born, Koln raised, hand model because she made it straight over from Perth to east coast in an L300. I mean straight too, bought it with a staffed ball joint - if she made a turn she had to reef it back to straight. Scruubbed the tyres out in 4000km and got a new ball joint

Imagine, all the power of an EA81,4.4 leyland or supercharged V6 and bloody cable shift transmission. I'd never get into third unless I found it by accident :)
